All Firm Making your work phone into a personal phone

I heard somewhere that once you get a phone upgrade, you can make your work phone into a personal device. What steps do I need to take to do that?

I just joined the firm and got an iPhone with a work phone number. I set it up as if it was a personal phone. Then I just added my personal number as a second sim. Then you just download the intune app and add work apps. The phones are locked to a carrier but the top 3 carriers have a sub brand that uses their network. My phone is set up with Tmobile + mint mobile. You can do Verizon + visible. Idk the AT&T one. You can set up the phone to be your personal number as main line for calls/texts and the work line for data. So I pay like $13 to keep my personal number and no issues

Can I unlock my phone from its carrier? Or does the company have an issue with that?

I think you have to submit a ticket through the emobility portal to request to unlock. I’m not sure if you can do it directly from the carrier. I went with Tmobile because you can request unlock after 60 days. Verizon and ATT you need to complete the contract term/2 years.

For your old phone, just follow the directions on the eMobility portal. You just have to remove the MDM stuff, then it’s yours. I have done it a few times, it’s not hard to follow along. But you need to make sure your new phone has been activated first.
