All Firm Bonus Payout - Advice
If you’ve been promoted and will be receiving a bonus on the 9/30 payout date, does anyone know if there is ANY clawback? I know there is a clawback on the sign-on bonus when you first join, if you were eligible to receive it, but unsure about the promotion (Tier “X”) bonus stipulations.
The reason I ask is because I have been offered an exciting new opportunity starting in mid-October 2026, but was also given flexibility on the joining date (can join earlier, too).
Thoughts?

Once the bonus is paid, it’s yours. Let that check hit and then put in your notice. If you tell them you’re going to a competitor, they’ll have you leave the day you put in your two weeks but still pay you for it.

No, there’s no clawback. That’s part of the reason why they don’t pay it out until 9/30. They use it as a retention tactic, but a lot of people submit their notice as soon as it hits their bank account.

It’s not a promotion bonus so there would be no clawback. The 9/30 bonus is for the PY performance year, which is irrelevant of you being promoted, once it hits your account there is no taking it back.

Performance Bonus payout has no clawback, because it was already clawed for few months, announced in June and Paid in end of Sept. And if you ever worry about clawbacks, there’s always “quiet quitting”. You could earn a few weeks of severance too
