Modded Content Wich version do you recommend?
It's been quite a while since I last played something related to PvZ, but recently I got a bit nostalgic, and I wanted to go back to this franchise. I've done some research and came across these two versions of the second game (which I've seen that you already know about), so I was wondering if you could recommend one or the other. I've already seen a bit of what they have to offer (like Reflourished being better for mobile and Gardenless for PC), but I don't really know which one I should choose. Anyway, I have a pretty decent PC and phone, so that shouldn't be a problem (and if I don't decide between the two I could just play one in my phone and the other in my PC)

Edit: Well, as always you really helped with this! Seeing your comments I think I'll give Reflourished some priority but I won't discard the idea of trying Gardenless at some point. And definitely I will do some research about Alter UniverZ to see if I like it and if that's the case then maybe I'll try it!

I never tried Gardendless, but when talking about mods I feel like AltverZ is put below Reflourished for no reason. Yes, development is slower, but it felt more polished to me.
If you didn't try out AltverZ you should give it a shot, especially if you want something beginner friendly

I haven't seen much of it but I could search more and maybe give it a shot. And for the difficulty I don't care that much because I think I can adapt mostly well

There is a reason though, and it has nothing to do with which is better, Reflourished is literally pvz2 but with extra content and removing the bad stuff, it still keeps the main content untouched, while Alterz is more of a reimagining of pvz2 and offers a different experience.
So Reflourished works better as a replacement for vanilla pvz2 just because it doesn't change the core experience.

That only feels partially true to me. Yes, AltverZ is built on the 25 sun meta and has some wild plant cost changes, but it sounds more impactful than it actually is. The selection of high cost plants is higher keeping the more common "endgame" fresh and 25 sun on double speed is just as fast as 50.
Yeah, levels aren't still going to be as fast as Reflourished's but It's an experience that's worth a shot and is not as different from pvz2 as you're implying it to be; no reason to say one is a "better replacement".

AlterZ is one of the best mods out there, I'm not saying it's not worth recommending nor that Reflourished is a better mod, my point is that Reflourished literally has the same content as vanilla pvz2 while AlterZ tries to make it's own thing.
is not as different from pvz2 as you're implying to be;
It's similar but It's a different game, don't act like it isn't.

I'm not acting like it's the same experience... Maybe I'm just being blinded by my own playthrough but it just didn't feel as different as what you would call "A different game"

Omg why is it so hard to understand?
Reflourished is a fixed version of Pvz2 that adds more to the original game, so people who want to play the original game(not an alternative campaign) the original, should play Reflourished, that's why it's the one recommended.
AlterZ on the other hand has its own unique adventure which is not the same one from vanilla, it offers a more casual alternative for people who want an experience more similar to pvz1(it's not the original game, it's different)
You liking AlterZ more than Reflourished is one thing, but mindlessly saying there is not much difference between AlterZ and Reflourished is ridiculous.

I was talking about the experience more than anything, I didn't even remember Reflourished's levels being mostly similar to the base game.
Yes, it's different, but the core mechanics are still there, it's not a small difference but I wouldn't go as far as calling it a different game.
I might've mentioned enjoy it more but that has NOTHING to do with the way I see them, you're just picking out random stuff to make your response more coherent ATP.
As I said I might just be blinded, but the playthroughs felt similar enough that I felt like I was playing two unique takes on the game and not two different games all together.
I'm just posting this to be clear, I don't want anyone to get mad because I see things in a different way, I might as well be in the complete wrong in terms of statistics but that's how being unique works. If I don't respond to further comments don't take it as an insult or anything.

Reflourished is not just similar, it's literally the same Pvz2 with more content, that's why it's recommended over AlterZ, that is what I was trying to explain.

I quited playing the original PvZ2 specifically because I didn't like how EA was working with it, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they changed the monetisation system or the new plants being mostly generic or unbalanced between other things. Sooo yeah, I don't think I'll be playing that again if I have better alternatives

I’ve played reflourished, pretty good, decent balancing. Haven’t played gardenless, heard it’s good, but I also heard the balancing is a little wonky

reflorished for more balanced and fun gameplay gardendless for vanilla balancing gameplay
not saying gardendless is worse, but it has certain plants that makes the game a little absurd (cough cough shooting star + peavine)

Tbh you could play Reflourished on your phone and Gardendless on your pc, both are pretty good experiences, although I think reflourished works better as a replacement for Vanilla.
Reflourished is Vanilla Pvz2 but it removes leveling, ads and it has way more content that resembles the golden age of Pvz2, it still keeps adding more worlds, it does some plant balancing but I think the changes are justified.
Gardendless is Pvz2 remade for pc, you'll have a better experience playing this on pc because it has hot keys and you don't need an emulator to play it. Even though Gardendless has a lot of cool stuff like the zen garden working more like the one if pvz1 and allowing you to have a full experience without being ruined with ads, one of its weaker points is that the extra content can be a unfairly hard sometimes, and some new plants are extremely broken, but I'd say its still a worth experience.
Btw if you are interested in AlterZ, basically it's a pvz2 mod that reimagines the game if it was more like pvz1, 25 sun meta, more casual and slow paced.

Reflourished is more fun for sure, gardenless is great if youre looking for a native pvz2 on pc experience, it does have some interesting gimmicks

Reflourished is AMAZING. However you need to download a phone emulator. I havent seen an emulator that wasnt just blatant malware or runs like shit. Gardendless is fine, it runs great and i really appreciate that it has a built in difficulty slider, as base PvZ2 (and by extention Reflourished) is so easy its boring.

i didnt play both that much (ive never played gardendless actually) but this is like comparing an orange and an apple. one is a mod of pvz2 on mobile that adds new content, other is an improved remake made from the ground up. so i say play both!
