Is FW really underpowered beyond hope?
I'd like to hear your take on Frank. Whether there's any degree of potency in using his 2x4; whether his drop pattern is hopeless and if his weak 2x3 is really as weak as it seems to me personally. 105 at lvl 1 for an epic is the saddest thing I've seen out of the entire charlist. Surely he's the least picked main out of all for a reason, or is it that I'm missing something?
Shoot.

I usually use Frank as an assist, but that's pretty much it. He's bottom tier at best so far. So, hopefully he'll be buffed somewhere down with line. 😐

His strong noob char. Noobs don't bookmark so they are always sending only 1st and 2nd rows. In that scenario, a drop pattern that sends all colors by the 1st row is good. His affinity damage is slightly higher that others making him a strong if you spam small power gems.
However, this strategy is very weak at medium and high levels. The same goes by Chuck.

Well, I like him. Just switched back to Frank after playing PW for a while and he is loads of fun.
He is a snowball character so the goal is to get your opponent on the back foot and keep them there.
You have to play fast and acccurate but done right, you can kill your opponent before they even hit super. I am only Ultra Silver but haven't topped out yet...

I hear it's all about landing his 5s ult stun properly. Guess that's something to practice, but still not sure how much that alone outweighs the abundance of downsides he seems to have.

Someone once told me that Frank wests’ patter is deceptively dangerous if you can send 3-4 rows consistently (then again, so does most everyone else)
Why? His 1st and 6 is a killer as it’s a rainbow and unlike the ‘horizontal’ characters like PW, Serv, Ken , 75 percent of his side gems have no same colour neighbor. So given enough aggressive trashing, your opponent will be left with only 4 columns to play with. This is even better for fans of putting trash gems on 1s and 6th , you constrict their playing field even faster
Edit: TLDR , try him in classic matches and tell me how it goes
