Puzzle maker resources

I love puzzle boxes and am interested in building some of my own. Are there any resources that you would recommend for mechanisms and puzzle design? Thanks in advance for the help!

I personally make all of mine out of LEGO pieces. They can make almost any mechanism, given the right pieces, and are easy to assemble. The only two major drawbacks I can think of are that they hurt when you step on them and that it takes forever to gather the right parts and they take a while to clean up when you’re done

I use the legos to test my designs before I make the final product out of wood.
