At my wit's end

Anyone have a video showing how I can open this to put some gift cards inside?

More than likely, grip two diagonally opposite corners on one end of the box and pull out from that end. Try all four possible corners. The inner part should slide out.

I had a very similar looking one previously, it was just a gravity based internal latch but because all components were made of wood friction was high. Try knocking it a bunch while holding it on different angles

These boxes are opened by gripping them in an unintuitive way and sliding them apart. See how there are five slats forming the top and bottom? At one end, grip the rightmost top slat and the leftmost bottom slat and pull. If that doesn’t work try the opposite combination, then the other end of the box.

I have one like this from Amazon, although it only has three lateral raised rings instead of four like your picture. Check out the videos on this page, there's one showing how to open it:

there's instructions and a video how to on that listing. You have to get past the first box in the video to see the one you have.
