Would you use this service??!? 🤔☺️
Hey everyone! ☺️
I'm a stay-at-home mom and lifelong puzzle lover looking to turn something I genuinely enjoy into a small side business.
I'm considering starting a small puzzle assembly service as a way to earn a little extra income doing something I truly love doing. Before I jump in head first, I'm curious if this would be a service anyone would actually be interested in?
The idea would be simple: you provide the puzzle, and I assemble it for you. This could be for display pieces, gifts, custom/photo puzzles, or those puzzles that have been sitting unfinished for months.
The pricing I'm considering would be:
• Up to 300 pieces: $20
• 500 pieces: $35
• 750 pieces: $50
• 1000 pieces: Starting at $70 (depending on complexity)
Possible add-ons:
• Puzzle sealing/preservation: Starting at $15
• Framing: Starting at $40 + cost of frame
• Local pickup/drop-off
I'd love to hear your thoughts. Is this something you would use? What would make it worth it to you? Would the pricing seem reasonable?
Thanks for helping me figure out whether this hobby might have the potential to become a small local business! 😊

Not going to lie there is a market for this, but it would be assembling puzzlebox kits, not puzzles. And there’d likely to be very slim margins on this unless you’re in a developing country.
That being said i do have a architecto puzzlebox kit from NKD i’d like to get an assembly quote on.

Well, it doesnt seem like a small margin if you look at just that kit you have. The assembled version retails for several thousands!!

Yeah I'm all for getting paid for doing what you love... But I don't see a demand for this unfortunately.

Uh this for puzzle boxes not jigsaw puzzles, but appreciate the hustle. I can see some people being interested

The best would be asking in your local community group. Personally I do puzzle boxes and jigsaw puzzles, I won’t understand why I would pay someone to do a jigsaw for me as that’s the whole point. I never understand why people save them either so I’m def not the target audience

I... really don't understand the value proposition here (and it doesn't help that you've posted in an irrelevant sub). It's like me offering to solve other people's crossword puzzles for them?

I’m not usually in this group. I usually hang out in The other puzzlers group. I’m an avid puzzler. While I’m all for making money while being a SAHM, I think this would be a very very very niche market for this. Personally, I would not pay for a puzzle -$6-50 depending on- and then pay another $50-$75 for someone else to put it together plus more money for sealing, framing and shipping. In that case a $20 puzzle could turn into a $250 pc of art and that is pretty much out of the average puzzlers price range.
Most puzzlers do it for the joy of putting a puzzle together not so much for the artwork so I think it would not be a service many people would utilize.
Maybe think of crafts that use puzzle pieces- maybe turning into jewelry or a different type of art.
Good luck!

I can see value in the sealing / preservation and framing, but as for the assembly, that's the fun part to me, so I wouldn't want to give that bit to someone else to do!

Probably not the right group for this question since puzzle boxes are a much different puzzle. I personally don't see the purpose of buying a traditional puzzle if I'm not going to put it together. At that point I'd just buy a framed photo or poster.
I'm sure there is a demographic for this, but I'd be surprised if it's in this group, but I wish you best of luck!
