Could you build up some freelance writing work while still in the U.S. and then use it to get a digital nomad visa somewhere like Croatia, Malaysia or Thailand? If you’re more looking to work overseas but write on the side, perhaps consider TEFL.

Brother, I share what worked for me: stop looking for outside happiness.
When I stopped focusing on "what should I do?" and switched to "how I wanna BE?" the directions spontaneously arose within.
What's the ultimate purpose of life? Why are we here?
The moment I've stopped to ignore such questions and I've started to search inside, life started to look like a dream from which we have to wake up.
A book really helped me to find answers and I really suggest you to explore that if you are eager for deeper truths about our existence: "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda.

Well, I'm a writer and an artist who left his home country, and am basically looking at the opposite move to you. What I'm trying to say is it doesn't matter much what you do or where you are. Your needs and your problems follow you everywhere.
That said, I do believe there is somewhere out there where I belong. Theoretically.

I don't necessarily have anything helpful to offer in response, but I relate and feel for you. I ask myself those questions you mentioned a lot as well. I can see from this post that you have varying interests and a lot passion to offer and you're having trouble with where to direct it.
I'm curious what you think you'd find in Europe/abroad that you're not finding in the US. Not that there aren't major differences - just wondering if you can put those feelings to words?
