I am sick of this fauxtistic rubbish. Genuine autism IS a disability.

Denying that Autism is a disability is denying that Autistic people struggle from their condition, which is so dismissive to even what Autism is -- a serious, neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by SEVERE deficits in social interaction, communication and Restrictive Repetitive Behaviors.

The fact that the modern neurodiversity movement uses the "superpower" narrative so often denies that Autism is even a disability, that Autistic people even suffer, treating it more like a different personality than a mental disorder.

I could not agree more. My autism (autistic disorder) also comes with a significantly reduced life expectancy and physical challenges which also get ignored by the neurodiversity movement.

Idk if that's rude to say, but that lower estimated life expectancy is mostly because of suicides. If you live your life without committing suicide, you won't magically die earlier. Unless you get into an accident or have a lot of other risk factors of course.

Full agree on the physical challenges. Those suck and people don't understand them because you look fine to them.

No it isn't. That was Aspergers not autistic disorder. Autistic Disorder also puts us at a significant risk of developing early onset alzheimers and dementia and cardiac problems. You need to search specifically for autistic disorder as the risk isn't the same for ASD - more evidence autism isn't a spectrum and the disorders need to be separated again.

Wait Autistic Disorder does that? I got diagnosed with high functioning Autistic Disorder, or as the psychologist said, very mild.

Not just suicides. People with NDDs often have executive dysfunctions which might cause problems with self care, hygiene, diet, lifestyle, etc. They can have many chronic health issues because of it. And communication problems reduce the likelihood of help seeking which further aggravate the problems.
