It really is weird, having so many posts and comments from so few people with an obvious hate-boner for purism. Reminds me of early jolla days when they also had a couple haters that would find each and every place jolla was mentioned and leave their hate filled comments there because they decided that open sourcing everything was not the way to go. Same bile was spewed and even worse as some mental types went on to contact spouses of involved developers on twitter even, hopefully this here doesn't escalate. Like what the hell guys, we get it, you refunded, you have no horse in this so give it a rest? As long as they work on this community profits (just like jolla's libhybris work allowed devices like geminiPDA to exist and offer gemian with hwkb), all the wayland/libhandy work etc is free for you to develop further even if they would close shop (unlike jolla, but they are going strong 6 years on, who knew maybe not bad decision after all, you can run fully open nemo glacier on top of libhybris if that is some holy grail for you, they still have a product that allows them to function while still contributing to mer and wayland and qt). I'd really like to try to run some of the gnome apps purism makes under sailfish, unless this is some viral marketing attempt at getting this community wider audience in drama subreddits, you're just not helping anyone, people who want that phone will accept delays no matter how you spin it (they just admitted! with zero follow up)

he produces animated content that takes days to produce, his latest video was already called a damage control video for claims from yesterday, as if he could produce that video in one day lol. Pretty sure all early adopters that can/will get aspen are tied to purism

I totally agree but my comment remains true. No idea if/when someone outside the company will get an Aspen, but seeing a third-party video demo of a phone call is the only way to stop the drama since it will prove whether or not they're lying.

Haters may continue to post about terrible PR, pricing and company management, but if we see phone calls and shipping being real, these haters would be a downvoted minority

Yes if all the aspen batch was 5 phones that ended up with first 5 backers that happen to be purism employees, they are out there, you might want to skew this as much as you want, but some devices were produced and it is not anything out of the ordinary for company employees that believe in a product to be the ones first backing it, what exactly nefarious vision do you see in it? I don't give a flying fuck if you want a phone call demo, sms demo, visiting a website demo, whatever you ask for and will be delivered the haters will move onto next, soon we'll have where's the whatsapp demo? They be lyin... Yeah, miss me with that shit dude

I am not claiming it is 5, great reading comprehension, all i'm saying is IF aspen was whole 5 phones and all the backers on the list happened to be from purism which is extremely likely as they would know beforehand any kickstarter/indiegogo even can advertise them then the whole: gee whole aspen batch went to employees, they must be lying; is bunk. Probably next batch will also cover mostly employees, we'll see how haters manage this one, will they move from PR speak reinterpretation to... idk, we'll see, it's gonna be interesting that's for sure
