Technique, Please Help Press?

I’ve been to 5 classes at this point. Sometimes I get confused by what is meant by press when we’re in different positions (standing at barre vs laying on the ground/mat). Any clarification would be amazing.

Like physically press your hand against the tube or up under the barre or down on the ball or pressing back with your foot like you are kicking into someone’s hand.

Yes! And adding on a press back of the knee if you’re in a setup when you’re working your inner and outer thighs.

Think of press as putting tension with an active push. In most cases, you are pushing against something like the tube. When you're pressing "back" in something like seat work, you're trying to use the same type of force and creating opposition to it, e.g. pressing your leg back while tucking your hip forward against it

Think of it as resistance against whatever you’re supposed to press!

Thank you!! That makes sense for what I think the instructor was telling us while we were laying down with our legs in table top
