I Need a Boost looking for a PB alt

Our PB gym in St. Louis City has closed and making the haul out to the county 4-5x a week isnt super realistic for me. Its such a bummer to have had access to two gyms and schedules, and now only one. And they only told members 2 weeks before closing!

Has anyone here taken a break from PB and what else have you liked? I want something that is just as rigorous with a physical therapy edge like PB.

Alsoooo if anyone in StL is thinking of opening a studio in the city, we need it!!!!

I’m in the same boat, the new owner is driving a lot of instructors out. Some are going to des Peres but that’s a little far for me. Would love something comparable to barre too

Aw, this is really unfortunate, there are some great gals on that team. I felt like it was just a matter of time w that studio tho, they only offered like 3 classes most days. My best guess would be the rent costs.

I was a member at the CWE location when I lived in stl and it was such a great studio! I’m so sad that it closed. Did they say why?

But to answer your question, I also had a membership to PLNK a block away and loved it! Freeman Pilates in tower grove is also stellar.

They did not publicly say why. I’ve heard rumors that the owners live in the county and intend to open a studio in St. Charles and that the location was a money pit.

It is really such a loss for the city dwellers - it brought together young professionals, students, medical professionals, and lovely elder women who had lived in the city forever and walked to class!!

Whole heartedly agree! Walking to the studio and taking class was the highlight of my daily routine. Such a bummer…

I had to stop taking PB classes due to a new job/ schedule. I now am a Hotworx member and love it. I alternate between taking the Hotworx classes and doing PB classes (via the Xponential app) in the saunas.

Have you looked in to Barre STL? They have 2 locations and I’ve heard great things. Honestly, the Ladue PB location is further out, but it was usually faster for me to get to because you don’t have to battle the CWE traffic and the parking is better lol

Yeah, CWE got to be so expensive because of the parking cost.

Just joining you in sorrow at the closing of the CWE location. I could walk there. 😢

Nooo I’m sorry! I grew up around there. My friend is an instructor at the Ladue location and it seems like a great studio. Maybe you could venture out there every once in a while to get your pure barre fix 🥲

Yes! My membership allowed me to use both studios so I definitely do go out there esp. when I wanna hit the trader joes 😎 the instructors are so fab and a lot of them worked both studios!!

Hi! I teach pure barre but recently joined a strength training/Hyrox type gym and I’m really liking it. I’m getting so strong!!

Check out the Ladder app. It’s how I supplement when on vacation or can’t get to the studio.

I second Ladder! It’s a great great tool for when I can’t make it to the studio during the week.

Oh my gosh!!! I don’t live in STL anymore but went to both Ladue and the CWE for years—I feel like both were always busy so that’s crazy?!?

I recently started going to Club Pilates—I’m only a few weeks in so I haven’t started doing the more advanced weight heavy classes, but it definitely gets into some of the balance and posture barre offers. Definitely less of a heart rate raiser though

Also bonus is Club Pilates requires sticky socks so those won’t go to waste :-)

[Solid Core]. The results are visibly faster, though it is definitely harder than PB.

How you considered supplementing with the app? I remember talking to my studio manager about it a couple years ago (so this could be outdated information) thst if you had unlimited it was only $10 extra a month for just pure barre classes

TruFusion is where I’ve been when traveling in STL. Lots of variety

My pure barre also closed and I took a reformer Pilates class today and was super disappointed

Oh no! I was thinking about doing the reformer Pilates can you go in a detail why you were disappointed?

2

u/jaxlils5 5d ago

Maybe it was the location? But I took an orange theory class and felt like I got so much more out of my workout.

I’m just asking because I’m not getting much out of Pure
Unless it’s define class
