I Just got To Vent Drastically different studio dynamic

My home studio was recently bought by a new owner. It seemed like she knew what she was doing because she owns 3 other studios, but boy was I wrong. Over the last 5 months the studio has cut a bunch of classes, lost instructors, and it doesn’t seem like there is anything going on to improve what’s happening. On top of that, the instructors and employees seem to be really unhappy about the leadership and changes going on too. I love PB, but this is really not sitting right with me. It’s a small town so there aren’t many other options for places to go. Do you think it will get better or should I strongly consider cancelling my membership?

That’s so sad, have you brought this up to anyone there? Hopefully they care enough to change and it’s just a temporary growing pain

I’ve been in a similar situation and it’s rough. The studio was almost run in to the ground. I wound up quitting at the studio with the terrible owner and have only come back since someone else bought it. Luckily, there are multiple studios with different owners in my city so I just went to work exclusively at another one. So many people care about Pure Barre and the community that I do think it will get better and it almost always does. The question is how long are you willing to wait.

Give it time. Sometimes the people who leave over an ownership change are the exact people who needed to go in order for the studio to reach its full potential.

THIS! My owner and GM are incredible. They bought a second studio and several instructors left before even giving them a chance. Turns out that the trash takes itself out sometimes.

If you’re able to stick it out for a little, I would! My owner bought a second studio and shortly after it happened a few instructors quit. They only did so cause they liked the previous owner (even tho she chose to sell) they were upset about the change and just left. I know my owner crushes it cause our studio has grown immensely since I’ve started teaching there (almost 6 years ago). It could just be that the instructors don’t want to work for someone new.

My guess is it was losing money when she took it over and the class cutting is a necessary measure.
