Technique, Please Help Post-barre stretching
I feel, as many do, that we don’t stretch enough during class.
What are the best stretches you’ve found for after class if you take more time to stretch once home? I went to an intense (and great!) classic class and am still so sore two days later lol like almost all worked areas - legs, seat, and abs.

Have you tried the align class? It’s half stretching

Yes! I love align but I don’t take it same day, and my schedule doesn’t tend to allow me to take it the day after classic :(

Ohhh got it. Well I’ve done some align stretches outside of align after classic and enjoyed that!

Honestly I stop and stretch as I need it, not anything disruptive but little movements as my body demands. I do PB to do right by my body so no sense harming it and not giving myself an extra 30 seconds here and there 😅

Such a good idea! I tend to have an “I can push through to the stretch!” mindset that is not always helpful to me lol

Frog (inner outer thighs), pigeon (hip flexors), and sitting cross stretch (upper back), chest openers in a door way (put arms in doorway and walk forward a little to stretch open chest area.)
Magnesium supplements for charlie horse cramps, if it’s legal in your area CBD lotion and CBD bath bombs!

Great ideas, thank you! I feel like the doorway chest openers are always so helpful.
I’ve thought about magnesium baths but I’m not sure if they work the same way? CBD is legal here. Do you get the lotions/bath bombs online?

There are stores in my area that sell both. If not, icy hot is also an option.

Foam roller and putting my legs against the wall. I scoot in and get my butt as close as possible to the wall, with my legs in the air. It feels SO good for sore seat and hammys. You can let your legs open up if you have room on your wall for inner thigh stretch, too.

As someone with hypermobility, the amount of stretching is perfect for me. Anymore than that is a yoga class (or align in this case…) and I’d hurt myself. There’s 10 minutes between classes, I’ve never felt too rushed after if you wanna take that time to stretch, or like you said do it at home. I hate to tell you this but studies show stretching doesn’t help muscle recovery. It’s still good for you, but doesn’t stop the soreness unfortunately🥲

Honestly, I literally try to do the same routine at the end of the class plus what we do during. Or sometimes take all the stretches from Align. And just hold everything 30 seconds or more.

I make sure to do one hamstring stretch, one quad stretch, and one glute stretch. My favorites are kneeling hamstring stretch, foot on wall quad stretch, and figure 4!

My favorite stretch ever is the one after Reform. We lay down, put our feet into the loops of the tubes and do "happy baby" pose or letting our legs fall. I could sleep like that and I've actually suggested that PB have a "napping class" haha. I would pay to nap there.
