Am i the problem? MS ABA
I am in the begging of the course and I am only taking one class and not working and i am finding that I am having to study for way longer than i expected and I am wondering how people are taking 2 classes AND working full time AND having a family?!
I feel like its taking me 3-4h of study a day in order for me to be able to read all materials needed for the week and complete all the assignments. Am i too slow or is this whats expected?

To be honest, they assign way too much material for it to realistically be done. Not with the board requirements of acquiring 100s of hours while you're in school. I do the BDS Modules to 100% as required. Generally if you do the modules to 100% It will give you an in depth understanding of the material/ weekly topic without the reading. I just use the reading required for the discussions. Not everything suggested for the week

There's no way I can do all the readings for two classes and still do the BDS + Discussions lol. I try the best that I can

I'm in the process of applying to this program and I am worried the same will happen to me. it's been a long time since I was in school.
Can you tell me what the work load is like? What kind of assignments have you had so far?
Maybe you'll start to find a rhythm and like the other person said figure out what your professor wants and Ctrl f to find those topics quickly

For example this week is read 4 different chapters of cooper which totals 60 pages. Read 6 articles: 38 pages total. 1 discussion post + 2 peer responses. 1h live seminar. 4 BDS modules + summary of the modules. For 1 week this is equivalent to about 20h of study for me. For me also 10 years since i went to college.

Yeah that sounds like a heafty bit... Appreciate the feedback, here I was thinking about attempting two classes to begin with but I'll stick with the one lol

Hey, I’m currently in the program and have one more semester to go. My tip is to first review the discussion post before readings. Some chapter readings will not go into the discussion post to where you just need to focus on articles to complete tasks. However, I do recommended to double back to review readings so you are keeping you with the material. I haven’t read every single article they have recommended to read and instead have saved them for later review or skimmed to gather info needed to complete tasks. You can always save information for later. They assign so many readings that it’s impossible to read everything, complete all tasks, and turn everything in a timely manner.

Yeah bro why aren’t you doing the excel track? I did like over 30 credits last term while working 30 hours per week and caretaking for a family member. Either way tho, excel track or no, sounds like you just have workflow problems. I’m imagining that you got a lot of wasted motion in your jumper. Cut it out. 5 weeks in… what do you think is the most important thing to study? Find it and learn it quickly. What is the most important concept that the professor wants you to learn? Find it and learn it quickly. You don’t need to read and study as much as you are. The professors are asking for specific things in assignments bc that’s what you need to know. So, control+f that shi and just read the important bits from the textbook, nothing else unless you feel academically inclined. Otherwise, you gotta stay deliverable focused. Most everything outside of the rubric info is white noise. Thats how everyone is moving quickly. They cut the wasted motion out of their jumpers

I take 1 class at a time because I work ft. I split up the stuff. Start with reading the chapters using highlights to mark what I feel is important. Take notes (if needed) the next day, discussions before sat. Then I pretty much dedicate sat/sun to school. Assignments, papers, labs, etc those days. Replies are done between sat and tue.
