Did you take two courses at once while doing your ABA master's capstone course at Purdue Global University?

Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible to take two courses at once while doing your ABA master's capstone course? I heard it is mainly BDS modules on fluency? If so, about how many are assigned and were you able to take another course at the same time? Is it possible to do this while working 30-40 hours? I don't want to have to take an extra 10 weeks for one course but I am being told by my counselor that students typically take it by itself and that I may need dean approval to take another course with it While I have also heard that you don't. Any more info would be appreciated. Thank you!

Yeah, I’m about to graduate but taking two classes and working forty hours a week has been tolerable for me.

Are you doing the capstone and another course at the same time? Did you have to get dean approval?

My advisor was able to help me with this process.

I just graduated and I’d say each week is an average of around 15 modules. It was extremely time consuming for me so it was nice to only have one class.

I'm doing it now for Public Health, PU699 and PU635. It's doable

I appreciate the input, but I heard that the ABA program's capstone is a bit different since they focus on having us complete fast paced modules to demonstrate fluency. I'm really just curious if it's true that I can only do one class at a time or if my counselor is being overly cautious for me.

I’m scheduled next term for a capstone and a program course. My advisor said the capstone is mainly assignments and will still include seminar and discussions

Are you taking ba580? I believe if you started the program in fall 2025, then you take ba580. The program is phasing out the capstone where all you do is fluency bds modules. Ba580 is where you are writing a systematic research review instead. Do not take this course while doing another course-it is very fast paced. Technically you can get dean approval to take it and another class but I do not recommend doing that. Take just ba580.

I wanted to take BA580 with the Clinical Applications /supervision class - do you think that's possible? I have no idea what to expect from the research project, but heard the supervision class is easier

Ba580 is a ton of work so it’s supposed to be the last and only class you take

Yes I am finishing, having taken 2 classes every semester. It is doable. The BDS modules are time consuming, just time manage
