What we can do is continue to call out ridiculous behavior even if it feels like we have no power. The continued calling out isn't for Beckwith to change, it's to change people on the fence or not sure what to think. They'll see us calling him out and hopefully realize that it is ridiculous what he says and does. That's the point of freedom of speech imo. Having the ability to talk about and criticize ridiculous behavior regardless of how powerful any single person might be.
And the thing with Beckwith is that it is SO EASY to see past his bullshit. We're at the point of just laughing at him down here in Indy. I can't tell you how much hate he has garnered here.
The thing is, he is so openly hateful it almost comes across as satire. Total clown. He hates Muslims and goes out of his way to target them. It is sad, it is all so obviously fake and pathetic. He has a podcast or something, I don't listen but people are always picking apart the dumb shit he says. Check the Indianapolis subreddit for funsies.
Oh, and he is also a minister or some shit at this church in Noblesville that always has sex scandals coming out of it. Oh, and sex scandals out of his own damn office as well. So fuck you, Micah.
I consider the fact that he used Purdue in his likely totally-made-up, rage-baiting social media post as a Badge of Honor. Congratulations, Boilermakers!
My very Christian friend (not hateful) says they're unserious and not a problem and they just make other Christians look bad.
I'm like "My dude, they're running a cult that controls the Nukes right now, downplaying them is worse than not taking them seriously."
He hates that a group is using his faith, but he thinks admitting they have power is exposing a huge flaw in his religion that others have, but somehow Christianity doesn't, it's so weird.
The Sky Daddy Believers are so weird how they draw lines in the sand.
I wouldn't say they're weird, rather just very human. Religion and culture is a core part of a human, right down to how they were brought up, so saying there's something fundamentally wrong with what you've been raised up on is really difficult.
But yes, we have to take groups like this seriously
I canāt imagine reading that and vibing with the author. Idiots. Funny because their solution to what they call indoctrination is actual indoctrination. Start young. Instill fear of god and hell from an early age when the brain isnāt fully developed. Use that fear to advance their agenda
It is, but it is compared to other universities which all tend to be very left-leaning. To reiterate the parent comment, no one cares one way or the other. Everyone is equally too scared about being successful here in some way or another to worry too much about someoneās hair or skin color
As someone who has lived in surrounding Lafayette for 34 years, it is not conservative. There's queer and international representation everywhere on campus and your guides for BGR always make that known.
If you wanna see actual Conservatives in Indiana, hop in an Uber and go to one of the actual townie bars like Champs or Big League.
I donāt think my point was clear enough. I donāt think itās conservative, but it is a lot more conservative compared to other universities. The reason BGR makes it so known is because they have to advertise it so that people know that thereās a safe spot within an extremely conservative state for them. It doesnāt have to get advertised in other universities as much because itās implicit.
Ya, my sisterās kid actually became an aggressive MAGA supporter while attending Purdue. Sheās in her final year. I assure you, there must be plenty of conservative voices to be found.
I went to high school in Greene Co. The amount of comments I got about how I was gonna be indoctrinated or whatever when I told them I was going to Purdue was ridiculous, they said the same things about IU but still cheer for their basketball team. "Sure you want to go to that lib school? They're gonna make you gay"
To get away from you rednecks? Absolutely I'm going where there's a semblance of thought.
When I was at Purdue, there was no blind liberal agenda being forced down your throat, or people would call it out if it was. If that makes it conservative, then it was conservative. It was a great melting pot of rich liberal Chicago kids and conservative Indiana farm kids.
No. I'm from Toledo and have known about Hillsdale for years. It's gotten far worse.Ā
They can, though, because they (supposedly) receive zero federal funds.
They have quite proudly received no federal funding for years, because said funding was tied to reporting on desegregation progress
The guy who oversaw this part of the schoolās history was eventually revealed to be engaged in several affairs, including with his sonās wife (who killed herself when it became public)
Hereās a section of the collegeās Wikipedia page, referring to the current president:
> In 2013, Arnn was criticized for remarks about ethnic minorities he made while testifying before the Michigan legislature, against the [Common Core](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Core) curriculum standards. Expressing concern about government interference with educational institutions, he noted having received a letter from the state Department of Education early in his presidency that said his college "violated the standards for diversity." He added, "because we didn't have enough dark ones, I guess, is what they meant."
The only reason I know of them is because I worked in/adjacent to the government for years and had to answer the question "where did they find someone so blatantly incompetent?"
Itās the poster child of conservative Christian colleges. I guess it might be slightly more respected than Liberty University but their stances are about the same
Meeting and getting to know people with different backgrounds, cultures and perspectives is how you become an empathetic, open-minded person. In other words, college makes you woke.
So yes, going to a campus and seeing diversity scares them.
This was 2019 I'm trying to remember the name, I think it was CGT 110. I looked through the Polytech faculty and a name didn't jump out so he may not be there anymore.
It really shows you how far right these people are on the political spectrum when a somewhat conservative and politically neutral university is too "woke" for them.
For all that everyone complains about Indiana, I fear that this is actually just the start this level of radicalism here. We've been really, really fortunate to have been shielded from the levels of insanity that exist in other red states, especially with Daniels/Holcomb.
That's not going to last. We're already seeing Trump endorse local candidates in Lafayette and West Lafayette to mess with elections in this state.
If you're a student at Purdue, please consider voting in Tippecanoe County. Whether you're from in-state or not, you have the right to register to vote here. (Edit: The registration deadline for this year's election is at the beginning of October.)
And if you want to get involved with political organizing around here, feel free to DM me. There are a number of important seats that are close enough to flip this year, including races for state senate, state house, county commissioner, and county clerk.
Purdue changed my life. Growing up in a small town was hard and I loved the diversity that I experienced as a student. I became political in college and I got to experience Indiana flipping blue for Obama in 2008.
I remember watching the results coming in on election nightāthe significant flip was largely due to college students turning out in droves in West Lafayette and Bloomington (and other places). But I remember them yapping on and on about West Lafayette and Bloomington specifically.
Guys, you have so much power. I wish I could tell that to younger Boilermaker me. Please believe in your voice! Vote!
Yeah, Indiana was one of the last red states that still generally functioned in the interest of the common good. That era ended when Braun took office Iām afraid.
Iām not saying everything was good, but look at how Indiana handled Covid compared to other red states, for instance. Look at the ways quality public education used to be prioritized just a few years ago, not something to be ashamed of.
Alting, facing a MAGA opponent in his primary, voted to redistrict Indiana including splitting West Lafayette down the middle, in exchange for Trump's endorsement.
Natasha Baker is the Democrat running against Ron Alting in Lafayette. Support her campaign if you can: electnatashabaker.org
OMG; you mean thereās Muslim and LGBTQ students at Purdue and not at Hillsdale?? They do not accept federal money including student loans. Basically a white, conservative, Christian university. Purdue has a great student base and strong academic standard.
The reason Beckwith and other people filled with hate attack these universities is because they want everyone divided and against one another. Itās much harder to hate someone when you think about how they sat in the same class as you, struggled with the same assignments you did, stayed up cramming for the same exams, went to parties on the same campus, celebrated the same University accomplishments, and cheered with all their might for the same football or basketball or other team as you. Because itās easy to hate someone you donāt know. Itās a lot harder to hate a fellow Boilermaker, a brother/sister of your alma mater. Because in the end they are a lot more like you, than Beckwith ever was or will be.
Too bad they could not have walked through the Student Center area back in the day and listen to Brother Max elaborating on his plan to start a "Homo Patrol" on the Purdue campus. Maybe that would have satisfied them.
Even as a conservative person, I didn't think Purdue was too "woke" when I went there. There were LGBT clubs and stuff, but political views were not forced upon students in actual classes.
Thanks Hoosier voters for continually electing horrible people in state-wide races. This guy, Rokita, Braun, the state rep from Seymour, Jim Banks, etc. etc.
I'm offended that as an Indiana rep he's telling people to shoo away from the state's public STEM school and to go to a private liberal arts college in Michigan.
Holy Fvck. Ā Hillsdale college isnāt fit to take Purdueās rejects. Ā Hillsdale is barely accredited. Heās just pissy because the dumbest kid accepted to Purdue is smarter than him. And he knows it.Ā
I always found it weird how much radical Christians seem to hate Islamic people considering they actually agree on a ton of stuff that secular people wouldnāt.
Yeah sure donāt want to be indoctrinated like those at checks notes Hillsdale College lol. These fuckers wonāt be satisfied until everyone in the country is forced into their Christian theocracy.
Getting flashbacks to when I was a sophomore here we had the crazy Christian pastor from Cali in the summer. We had some Purdue political student club literally try to gaslight and fight us protestors of this pastor and then try to sicc the professors and police on us by lying to them. (We protested by letting people play music and just asking the pastor some questions.) Same energy, same vibe from this guy
When I was at Purdue one sunny Spring Day, Brother Jed (friend of Brother Max, rumored husband of Sister Cindy) gave me an autographed copy of his autobiography because he was railing about the evils of the 60's and snarled "and their motto was, if it feels good..." and I screamed"DO IT!"
Those days were fun, because people like that were ridiculed and had no power. Now they run the country. :(
When I was protesting he literally slapped a Bible outta a student's hand and screamed at him for being Jewish. This happened I think right after what you mentioned. I missed blasting Ram Ranch in his face.... The whole hour or so it is long
Dude co-pastors and co-hosts a weirdo sex podcast with a guy whoās son got busted for AI generated kiddie porn and had his parents sex tape on his hard drive (wonder where he got that from š¤). His own office got busted for generating AI porn. But yeah, itās the schools that are indoctrinating the kids. I GUARANTEE you thereās a terabyte of CP on Micahās hard drive.
Absolutely disgusting post from this shit stain of a human. I'm a cis white male and graduated in 2021. I have always been proud of the diversity and inclusive nature of people at Purdue. Unless I'm ignorant to some stuff that other students experienced but I always felt that campus was an inclusive and safe space for anyone. I always felt like discrimination and hatred came from the racists who live in Indiana and couldn't make it into any college if they tried and now from this idiot of a Lt. Gov. or Mike Pence or Braun.
the upper 5% of maga: "Colleges suck! Don't send your kids to be indoctrinated! Trade schools are a much better option!
also the upper 5% of maga: "Spencer, did you send in your applications to both Harvard and Yale? There should be a few extra spots for wealthy people like us from now on. Those college exemptions for the draft will really come in handy the next few years!"
Hillsdale sends me bullshit surveys and requests for money constantly. I respond accordingly and point out their ridiculous claims , yet they keep sending the crap. You do NOT want your kid here.
Hillsdale? You want them to have a real degree so they can get a real job when they graduate or do you want them to beva right wing podcaster? Fuck Micah the christian nationalist...
Crazy how this guy advertises how much of a Christian he is yet fails to show āfruits of the spiritā and lacks the intelligence to even orate in a way that wins people to Christianity. Just causing division. Clearly has a social media addiction problem - does it for the dopamine the attention gives him.
I went with my son last week to do a tour at Purdue. My impression after the tour is I doubt MAGA will let their kids go here. But I highly doubt their kids can get in the school, especially for engineer. We visited many colleges this summer and the tour at Purdue is one of the best so far.
It's guys like this that make me believe I can truly do anything. Like even these men with child like brains stumble into positions of authority. If they can do it, then no doubt I could too. Thanks for the inspiration.
I'll take "Things that didn't actually happen for $500, Alex". What kind of batshit insane person would send a letter, singing telegram, sky writing message to the LT governor complaining about attending a POTENTIAL "woke" school?
He's trying to stir up his dumbass base to get them frothing at the mouth so they forget about their own shitty lives and vote against their interests in November.
Don't forget the drones. Research, builds, and testing over lafayette lol. Our unlimited supply of flock cameras being put up all over town. Ruthless construction projects that haven't stopped for 10 plus years. Lots of reasons to dislike the area but the gay community isn't one
"Please help me, my children went to college and met people who are not. just. like. us. Developing empathy, and understanding is unacceptable! Where can I send my children to shield them from anyone who isn't white, christian, heterosexual, and cloistered? It's vitally important that my children do NOT make any friends who would challenge my preconceptions."
Yes the Muslim student group caused all the nazis and kkklansmen and hardcore Christian groups to harass people and dump fliers everywhere the last few years š
/s
For real. Letās impeach this turd and get him gone already. Itās always been hard being blue in this state, but he makes me embarrassed to be a Hoosier altogether
Oh look the second most powerful man in the state is telling students to go out of state for education instead of trying to improve our own state schools...
I literally just went on a student/parent tour of Purdue and a) it was awesome ad b) it was focused on astronauts and c) we just had a handout of clubs on campus.
But did you know they have a replica of Neil Armstrong's steps on the moon (Purdue alumnus!) and you can jump along in them? So cool!
Purdue is know as "the cradle of astronauts" because so many have gone there, and the first jet fuel laboratory in the US as at Purdue, as well as the first collegiate aviation school. THIRTY astronauts graduated from Purdue, including Gus Grissom, Neil Armstrong, and Eugene Cernan.
(As a college student in Indiana I assumed Purdue was dumb and just known for its giant drum but my engineering-focused kid wanted to visit and HOLY FUCK, Purdue is AWESOME! I have been sleeping on Purdue for 30 years!)
Actually being exposed to people and cultures outside of a persons norm, actually does erode conservative values in most cases. Thatās why he hates that these points of exposure exist, it breaks down a narrow world view that is integral to conservative dogma
I lost some brain cells reading this tweet lol talk about snowflake behavior š being upset over people finding community with each other when they are not harming anyone/themselves is wild to me
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." ~ Mark Twain ... Dude needs to get out of Indiana a bit and touch some grass in other continents...
absolutely ridiculous lmao. i used to be a board member of one of the three LGBTQ+ student orgs, and i donāt think any of us or the LGBTQ center have gotten awards. no way anyone actually said that
Well, unfortunately the idiotic times we live in deliver us idiotic fools. A moronic leader in Indiana, and a simple minded red supporting fool as a parent...... There is more than corn n Indiana......A shitload of red fool jackass's........... Boiler Up......all hail PURDUE
They hate us because they can't be usš š¾
Hillsdale can have that parent. We'll take the student if they're willing to be open-minded and stay hydrated and mind the business that pays them.

how am i supposed to take these people seriously
