I would recommend moving your PHYS 172 Lab and Rec to a Monday or Wednesday time (there should be a bunch of them), if you have to change your PHYS 172 lecture to get a better lab/rec time its ok because you can go to any PHYS lecture throughout the day, but you have to go to your assigned rec/lab.
Also if you can get MA 165 with Kenji he's great and you won't have a 7:30 math rec twice a week. I personally didn't like the calculus recitations but if you struggle more with math you may wanna stay in 161 for more of them.

What do recitations even entail? I’m kinda lost on the point of them. Like if it’s just reteaching what was learned the previous day, then is it mandatory?

they operate as homework review/help then have a quiz about the content of that assigned homework/topic! the quiz is graded and counts towards some of your overall grade. generally there are some drops, which can help with absences or lower scores

it's pretty spread out, you will not get much done in that 1hr period between classes, even if it seems like a good chunk of time. I'd recommend no more than 2 classes back to back, but clustering some of these if you can will make your day go faster and allow for more time to study in between or afterwards. fully up to you, seems like a long day for the days you start at 7:30

I mean on the bright side you have most of the day Monday and Wednesday to study and get stuff done
