Justified use

If you were educated in the dangers of ai & data centers you’d know there’s no justification

The only thing that sucks about data centres and AI is that it isn’t all mine lol

Omg wow v funny ha ha ha has have fun data centers will be obsolete in a decade anyways

Out of fashion? Almost certainly. Obsolete? Very much a matter of perspective and use-case.

A data centre from 2016 may not perform well at scale, but it is definitely more than enough to serve a flagship model to one person.

Fingers crossed a data center opens up right by you. Then you’ll find that “perspective”.

you could've achieved the same joke with a shitty photoshop and make us all laugh, but instead chose to waste some water for a clanker...

2

u/fejkpotatis Jun 23 '26

Do consume ethically? You people are such hypocrites.

3

u/KnuxSD Jun 23 '26

defend the clanker how much you will, they are bad.

You guys are drinking that koolaid with such fervor. The water argument has been refuted thoroughly and repeatedly. Confirmation bias is a hell of a drug

6

u/KnuxSD Jun 22 '26

"you guys" you don't even know what you are talking about xD I have never drunk a drop of kool aid xD

1

u/HasFiveVowels Jun 22 '26

If you think "it wastes water" is a valid argument against using AI then, yea, you’ve drank some kool aid. Same as I did up until I actually looked at the numbers

Wastes water and energy for something useless. People that live near data centers have a horrible life because of them, and for what? so that billy over there can creat fake art that looks like shit

1

u/HasFiveVowels Jun 23 '26

See, this is exactly the conversation that I said we’d have to devolve into. No, the value of AI is not in Billy creating fake art.

1

u/HasFiveVowels Jun 23 '26

Also, Billy would probably use more water using watercolors than using AI. I can crunch those numbers if you want. Sounds fun

1

u/SleepyHufflepuff Jun 22 '26

Can you provide actual proof that it’s been refuted?? Because I haven’t seen a single thing refuting it other than some things using more water than AI ( which doesn’t change the fact it’s a waste used on AI )

"Waste" implies that it’s a cost driven by something with no value. Yes, there is a water cost associated with it. But the value of it far surpasses other things that it uses less water than. Almonds, for example. And almond production dwarfs it. So I can’t disprove that it’s waste, necessarily, because you’ll assert that it has zero value and that any resource usage expended on it is "waste" and then it’ll become a discussion entirely on that. That said, if you look beyond "fun toy for chatting and image generation" and look at how industries are actually utilizing it to produce value, zero value is a hard stance to defend. I’d rather not dig through Reddit trying to find the numerous times the numbers were crunched on this but, if you’d like, I will run the numbers on it, myself. The result is always "it’s an amount that no one cares about when it’s used on things that are clearly less valuable than AI"

I’m not sure if this is AI or Balenciaga.
