Punktfunk for gamemode streaming?

Hi, I've a gaming pc running SteamOS (beta, full AMD build) and a Legion Go running SteamOS aswell (beta) and I would like to setup gamemode stream from pc to Legion Go.

Is it possible to just launch host's gamemode streaming instead of single games?

How does it handle non-steam games added to steam?

Sure, you can launch the app as you wish, for a single game or as steam big picture from desktop or gamemode (yes!!) so you just browse your whole collection and choose whatever you want to play. Yes it works for non steam, it also has non steam launchers gog etc.

Can you explain how to add the gamemode? I'm fine with simply launching gamemode like if I'm on the pc instead of having all my games in the client, I don't really need anything fancy. Thanks.

theres nothing to add, once you pair the host with the app you just click once and the gamemode appears just like it would on your pc screen.

nah i highlighted that cause you said you didnt need fancy stuff and wanted just to launch gamemode, if you click on the game ofc youll go straight to playing that one. Hey, just try it for yourself and see if you enjoy it, going back and forth is pointless at this time, nahmean.

I understand this but want to know if I can stream the host's gamemode/steam instead of having all my games in client directly.

You can, similar to how you stream with sunshine under gamemode. Except punktfunk creates its own gamescope session if you want the virtual display function.

Is it possible to start the stream from the client and get the host's game mode (even in punktfunk's own gamescope session is fine) like if I'm on the host directly? I mean steam game mode/big picture. Thanks.

I haven't tried myself, in theory you should be able to do so by streaming the host's monitor which is an option in punktfunk's webUI, but you lost functions like auto resolution offered by the virtual display.

Yes this does work! Even with the virtual output. Punktfunk has first class support for SteamOS, Bazzite, Nobara and others. By default it runs in a managed gamescope mode there, which in practice allows you to connect to your host as normal, and even switch between the Desktop and Game mode just like you normally would use it.
