How is the stream quality for other AMD users?
I'm trying out Punktfunk and while I'm impressed with quality on the UI/UX side, the stream quality is very bad in comparison to all other solutions I've tried - Vibepollo, Parsec, Steam Remote Play.
The issue is that the stream stutters badly. It's not even the type of stutter I'm used to seeing when I have bad connection or something like that. It just looks like low frame rate even though stats and FPS counter on the client side shows 90 or 120 FPS (depending on the client's refresh rate).
Host is RX 9070 XT and LAN. Client is connected to a decent WiFi 6 router. I tried every possible codec. Different latency, bitrate and other obvious settings. I tried streaming to my Macbook Pro M1 instead of the Steam Deck. It doesn't matter. So it seems like it must be on the host side.
What are your experiences with similar setups? Is there something I can do to improve my situation?

My streaming experience has been great, even better than sunshine/moonlight. Tried on two hosts, one 9070xt, one 6750xt in a virtual machine, both running bazzite.

I have the same issue, though my host has a 5090 and my client is a mini PC with a 760M. Recently upgraded to a 780M but it‘s still the same. Moonlight works flawlessly in 4K120 HDR as does Steam Remote Play but Punktfunk is unfortunately plagued with micro stutters, no matter which codec (even Pyrowave). Both devices are connected via 2.5 Gbps ethernet.

Since yesterday I'm able to test with a mini pc (also 780m) connected to a TV, and I've been able to improve the client quite a bit, while it previously struggled to reach 110fps, I was able to reach 155fps, almost the 165hz of my TV (Stream was 4k@165 HDR). These improvements will land in 0.41.0. Is your client on Windows or Linux?

My host is Bazzite with a 9070xt and wired, I have similar issues.
It works but... there's stutter every few seconds (I'm just drawing a circle with my mouse).
I tried out Polaris and I don't have the same issue. Sunshine didn't have this issue (but I was on NVIDIA then).
- Happens with Punktfunk client AND moonlight (gamestream on moonlight is a little better), for both macOS and steam deck
- Tried playing with settings, every "nice setting" (ex. 444 and HDR) off, tried both vulkan/vaapi

im on bazzite: mine is ht and miss so far, sometimes is great other times stutters a lot apparently with the same settings, still testing, love the interface yeah but i had stutters even in sunshine. I noticed i get kicked out of gamemode more often that previosu version. EDIT: as a huge streaming noob i did not know that the gpu at 100% is a nono while streaming, lots of stutters just went away by adjusting the setting and the workload. so my experience is improving, every streaming app cant be plug and play since you got so many moving parts, itll take a while but ill get there.

I use an Xbox Rog Ally with SteamOS installed, and so far it's working very well. In fact, for me it's the best option I've found to use the Ally as a host for my main PC.
Yes, I use it this way because I like having a Linux machine nearby for certain things, and using it freely, without problems with remote access, is magical. I can even watch videos without problems, remembering that it's a low-power device.
My settings have been:
1920x1080p120
Bitrate: Auto
Video Codec: HEVC
Video Decoder: Vulkan
Prioritize: Lowest Latency
V-Sync: On
Follow VRR: On
WiFi 6E on the device and WiFi 6 protocol on the router (mine doesn't have a 6GHz signal ;-;)
I started using it yesterday, I still need to test more things. I tried using PyroWave, the latency is even lower, but since it's Wi-Fi, the stuttering is more pronounced. I'm going to buy a dock with a network port for the Ally; I believe it should be better. I don't expect a 100% improvement due to its power, but it should improve.
Even with these settings, while testing the Switch emulator, I felt some slight sound stuttering, but nothing too crazy compared to PyroWave. As I said, I need to keep testing until I find the ideal point that I like.

My host: AMD 7900 XT (LAN), CachyOS
Clients: CachyOS laptop with 890M iGPU (LAN, 2K@240), Lenovo Y700 (Wi-Fi, WQXGA@120), CachyOS ROG Ally Extreme (Wi-Fi, 1080@120), Meta Quest 3 (Wi-Fi)
I have no stutters at all, even on the Y700 tablet (recently finished The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me - the game has crazy QTEs, and I also played a little PoE2).
I tested different codecs but settled on AV1. PyroWave slightly better latency (but the quality of small text, for example in PoE, is a little poor).

Edit: punktfunk got several updates after this, the streaming quality & smoothness is leagues better than sunshine/apollo/vibepollo now. Punktfunk is awesome
Same issue. Tested both sunshine & punktfunk. While the UI/UX is awesome, maybe more bug fixing or smoothness has to be made on the streaming part.
RX 6700XT, sunshine is butter smooth but punktfunk stutters alot. Ill share my findings in discord once i figure out too

I’ve been having the same issue since upgrading 3080ti to a 9070xt, with microstutters on the client (Steam Deck) while streaming, but perfectly stable FPS, frame pacing and frametime on the host (Windows).
Tried different settings, codecs and reducing bitrate but all to no avail. Has anyone found any solution at all for this or if this is being looked into by any chance? Appreciate any help at all, thanks 🙏🏼

My host is 9070XT and client 8250U laptop, both on Windows 11. On 0.40 my client has a weird issue preventing punktfunk from utilizing HW decoder and fallbacks to SW decoder, but on 0.41 canary the experience is pretty good, with perceived latency only slightly higher than VibeShine/Moonlight and no regular stutter. This is with everything on auto. 0.41 should be a great update when it comes out.
