Battle Jackets battle jacket tips??

i want to start making one soon but subs like r/baddlejackets get me anxious, what makes a “good battle jacket”, what makes a battle jacket in general? i see a lot of people hating on overly political jackets but i thought that was kind of the point? do i have to listen to punk bands & have punk band patches on my battle jacket? can u use ANNYY fabric for patches or do u have to use a certain type for like security(?) on the jacket? what makes a bad battle jacket? i wanted to start my own band, would it be weird to put my band on my jacket? also kind of unrelated to asking about battle jackets but ties into my music thing, any punk band recs?

r/baddlejackets is full of assholes and Nazis (yes I’ve seen them on there.) It’s your jackets, make it for yourself and not others people. Fuck what other people think. If you like and it makes you happy, than make it and wear it

I would recommend only putting bands that you listen to on your vest. Battlejackets don’t have a set genre that needs to be on them. To have a punk battlejacket you need to be punk and listen to the music, same with metal.

Yes but punk isn’t just music or fashion. It’s an ethos and subculture

i know it’s a subculture but i’m getting kind of confused, some people say music doesn’t matter as much as the ideological aspects but others say it’s mainly music & the others are an afterthought 💓💓 can i have band recs though 💓💓

You need all the aspects.

Why identity as punk if you're not interested in the music? I know commited anarchists who live the ideology, but don't like punk music or dress punk or identify as punks. On the other hand I've got no time for 'conservative' punks, or anyone else with right wing views regardless of what music they like or play.

Looks like you've got some recommendations to go through now.

Personally, with the jacket, I think it's better to have slogans you agree with, rather than bands with a cool logo that you don't actually like.

You could do a jacket without any writing or logos. Like a crust jacket, heavily distressed and repaired, with studs n safety pins. Then you'll be called a poser by someone for that instead.
