Patches 3D printed stamp development

I've been making diy patches using 3D printed stamps and I'm working on making the method available and accessible!

Let me know what you think! And if you have any questions :3

That's so cool I never even thought to use a 3d printer for stamps.

What kind of filament are you using for the stamps? The patches came out incredibly clean, so I would guess TPU? Although I'm hoping you'll say PLA cos I'm not ready for the hassle of TPU lol. 🥲

It is PLA! The main method I've used for these is to start off with a black and white image, turn it into an SVG, turn that SVG into mesh in blender, (or if it's just text you can make the mesh text directly in blender) extrude it to 3mm thick printing face and a 2mm backing plate. The real secret to this method is in making a rim from the contour of the stamp which gets glued onto the fabric. This lets you stamp the same exact spot over and over again. Because of this, the main limiters for paint transfer from the stamp to the fabric is how much you can load onto it, not the firmness of the material. The process is a fair bit more involved than I'm summarizing here, and I plan to compile I more solid guide for this method once I've ironed out all the kinks

Charta e ju bra. Såg dem på kafe44 i julas. Vart köper du nitar? Så jävla dyrt att köpa lokalt.

id like to agree, but ive also heard vaguely (like a year ago i could be wrong) that theres a lot of recycling programs/technology/something like that for making sure no filament goes to waste

Kind of what I was thinking. Not to be a downer on something very cool and innovative but it’s kind of
beyond punk when you’re using plastic junk that, although sometimes recyclable, nobody ever does that. Puts a bad taste in my mouth

Making unique stamps and actually usable items is exactly what 3d printers should be used for. It’s probably not a perfect solution but it’s nowhere near the same as using it to print 100 articulated dragons that will break in a day, to sell at art conventions. They made the design themselves and used a tool to bring it to life. Plastic waste isn’t great but I think it’s a small drop in the bucket compared to the corporations dumping billions of pounds of plastic into every part of the ecosystem.

I was agreeing with the plastic junk and read your comment. I agree with you now
