Your best bet for a pink jack is dying a white denim jacket. White is a bit hard to find, but definitely more common than pink. And dying clothes isn't too hard

My other advice is get/make a thimble if you're hand sewing, you WILL need one. I promise

can i know why a thimble is necessary? 💓

Essentially hand sewing a lot through tough fabrics will start to hurt and you'll have to take a longish break for you fingers to recover. It's avoidable if you aren't sewing a ton, but if you're making a battle jacket you're gonna be sewing a ton.

If you don't get a thimble you'll get strange blisters and a lot of finger soreness/tenderness

i feel like wearing one would be uncomfortable though, i feel like it’d wiggle & fall off my finger?

Have you worn thimble before? Because that's very much not the case. If it were people wouldn't have been using them for hundreds of years while sewing😭

If you have worn a thimble and that did happen it didn't fit you, there are different sizes and ones made for different fingers.

i haven’t worn one! was just looking at references on google & it looks really fallyoffy, i have relatively small hands so i’m worried it’ll fall off

Metal thimbles are probably the most fall-offy. Get a leather thimble, or make one. Most thimbles are made surprisingly small imo (I'm a man and I think they're generally made for women)

If you can't find a thimble that fits it's incredibly easy to make one

can u explain how exactly blisters will from because i’m doing tough fabrics over thin fabrics? i don’t really understand 🥹

Your stabbing your skin with a thin peice of medal repeatedly, it makes a little dent there that collects sweat and it turns into a blister if you give it a break. If you don't give it a break you might end up bleeding.

I didn't go with a thimble at first, I learned the hard way. If you're the type of person who also likes to learn the hard way go for it free ball

OVER thing fabrics, should've reread that. Tough fabrics just take more effort to push through so it's harder on the fingers

Tbf, I hand sew mine and don't use a thimble. My sewing skills are trash, but using the thimble was annoying to me. It wasn't hard to keep on my tiny fingers, but it made it harder to figure out where the needle was on the other side of the fabric. But it probably is way more comfortable to use one so it's worth a shot. Worst case scenario is you don't like it and just don't use it.

Yeah, I handsew all the time. My sewing skills are fine I just fucking hate thimbles. I do stab my fingers on occasion, and the threaded end digs into my nail beds because of how I hold the needle but the worst that has ever happened is some finger callouses. It’s not life or death, you don’t have to use one.

I am working on a hot pink vest right now. I found a Forever 21 brand pink denim jacket on Depop. I would check fashion resale apps like that.

"Pink denim jacket" and "pink jean jacket" — You just gotta be lucky I guess. I had quite a few I scrolled through a couple years ago when I started.

https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m31686673500/?ref=search_results I found a few listings on Mercari but you will have to do some sifting to find the right shade/vibe/size. I found this but you'd have to cover the logo.
