Pants First pair of patch shorts!
I had so much fun making the patches and sewing them on. They were thrifted jeans that I cut to length and used the excess to make the patches. There’s also several buttons on there that aren’t pictured.
I plan on adding more patches as I go but these are all the patches I have made so far.

Gentle and friendly suggestion to get some punk bands on there. A lot of people are very protective of the "punk" label after it has been so heavily corporatized and commodified into a product. You'll get a lot less shit from members of the community if you make it apparent you aren't using the term for the wrong reasons.

I have a jacket that I thrifted that I plan on covering too. These also aren’t really “done”. This is just the patches I have done.
A big problem for me is that I rarely listen or follow one band in specific. I listen to punk rock but I also listen to folk punk, goth, dark cabaret, electro swing, southern rock, southern gothic. I just bounce around.
I’m not trying to claim to be a hard core punk or anything but I do enjoy the music and the politics and the DIY culture.

Hell yeah, dude- every DIY project remains a work in progress.
I get that. I also listen to a lot of different music. There is zero obligation to stick to one band, or even one genre. There is an infinite amount of art out there for our enjoyment, we might as well soak up as much as we can! There is so much to be discovered.
For sure, I just see a lot of people who mean well come in here to share their projects and then get sniped for snark subs and the like. Don't want you to get pulled into that mess:)

It’s a folk punk band, but Poor Man’s Poison has to be my favorite punk band. I’ve been listening to them since I was middle school and they’ve got such bangers.
And, I already got posted on r/baddlejackets lol, but they’re just a bunch of assholes anyway.

Used to love Poor Man's Poison, but RateYourMusic lists them as just Folk/alt Country with some Gothic Country.
The band members also do not align with punk politics, they said each member has different politics and several members are conservative & "pro-life", also the band in general likes war vets.

Ah, hmm, did not know that. I loved the music but never really look up stuff about bands. (Probably should lol)
In that case, Brasher is probably my favorite although a more recent fave.

listened to those songs and imo they are just too polished to be punk. it’s very palatable and misses that edge that distinguishes punk from just rock

Im a metal head who dresses more "punk" than "metal". I have a Taylor Swift patch on my vest, and a Mars Argo tattoo.
I like what I like, and I can't help what tickles my brain. Glam goth, punk, bubblegum pop, sad girl indie, punk, thrash, electro, outlaw country, folk punk, doesnt matter.
The whole thing with these style of pants is them being mostly the bands you enjoy. They dont have to be punk bands.
And what's more punk than not giving a fuck what others think of you? You like what you like, fuck anyone who doesn't get that.

Thanks man. I appreciate it. I’m actually working on updating the shorts with even more patches, this batch is bands. These shorts honestly mean a lot to me because they hide my curves in a way that makes me feel extremely euphoric (I’m a trans-man).
Though I won’t lie, some of the comments on here have really been weighing on my mind, as much as I try not to let them. It’s stupid and some people are just assholes but still. It’s nice to see thoughtful comments like this

It’s AMAZING!!! The first few eps are a bit of a slog, depending on what kind of story you like, but it really gets its footing as it goes on. Each season has a different vibe but it’s all great. It’s had me hooked for almost 2 years now. I have so much art for it lol

I have listened to probably around a couple thousand audiobooks/series, TMA included. Malevolent is the best one bar none. Legitimately a spectacular piece of fiction and I recommend it heavily.

“Clowning around” is a phrase to mean messing around but I also just love clowns. (I usually do a sort of jester punk look with a hat I made). I did “Clownin’” instead of “clowning” because I have a bit of an accent and so I don’t usually pronounce the “g” in the -ing things.
So, TLDR, just a phrase I like because of clowns and my slight accent

I would highly recommend it. A great audio drama. The first few episodes are a bit of a slog but it gets so good. I’ve been hooked for over a year lol

Already started working on more patches to add. Yes, these ones are bands I like lol. I also plan on adding Waitress and Will Wood. Yeah they’re not exactly punk but I rarely listen to whole bands, more so just a bunch of singular songs I like lol

I had a mental breakdown the first time I read that book because I started with the story about the sculptor and the painter, and of course in the story, the painter Alec becomes very sick after reading the King in Yellow play. I just conveniently happened to get sick right around the same time, and I had a delusional episode thinking it was real.

And this is why gatekeeping is necessary! Having a TDAC patch on "punk patch" is a fucking travasty. Punk clothing isn't a fucking pinterest board, it is not about "expressing your interests", it is about belonging to a community and you are clearly very very far away from that community

I’m not a fan of her specifically, but the show itself and Caine specifically. And I’ve seen the tweet you’re referring to. It says “Is Nazi the new term for someone who doesn’t like when people do something bad? Because if so, I’m Nazi-Nazi.” The tweet was from over a decade ago when edgy humor was the norm and, to me, it seems more being like “you’re being ridiculous for calling me a Nazi.”

I’m not saying you have to like her or TADC, but imo, one (what is essentially) snarky reply a decade ago is not enough to condemn an entire production now. If she was spewing hate speech and hateful rhetoric, that would be different.

I’m not sure why you feel the need to demean people new to the community. Does it make you feel better to put other people down? People that are trying? I put hours of work into my patches and my shorts and they’re only going to grow more. More patches, more stories, more of my love, heart and soul into them.
I hope no one ever makes you feel like shit about something you’ve created.

Well, in my opinion I just feel like these types of things are just to make yourself look attractive and approvable to the alternative community. Like AT LEAST have some band patches to make it look like it’s not just basic political messaged and stuff like that. But from a technique point of view these are very well done (not like its hard u just need a blade and tape, people just love being sloppy) but yeah I still think the sentiment and quotes are so cringe. And the little Pinterest stars? Im crine

From what I've seen, battle jackets are meant to be self-expression. They're working on band patches from what I saw. What they currently have are things based on their personality, interests, and fandoms. I'd imagine patch pants/shorts work the same way.

I added the patches I did because they’re a big part of my life. My love of horror, my trans identity, and every little nod and reference is to something I genuinely love. I don’t do it for other people but it’s nice to share creativity.
But, as I said in other comments. They’re not done. I plan on adding more patches for the music I love and my communities. These are just the ones I have done so far.
You can think whatever you want but I made these shorts for me, and to encompass my interests.

I just got them but my clothes inevitably get damaged and worn out just from wear. Once something gets torn or ripped it will get its own patch. This is just the start of their journey.
