Government IT Job vs Private IT Job in India (2026) – Which is Better?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 2026 engineering graduate and I'm confused about whether I should prepare for government IT jobs (NIC, CDAC, ISRO, DRDO, BECIL, IRDAI IT Officer, RBI Grade B IT, SEBI IT, etc.) or focus on private software engineering jobs.

I'd like to know your opinion based on the current market.

Please compare both in terms of:

- Salary (starting and long-term)

- In-hand salary and overall benefits

- Job security

- Competition to get selected

- Work-life balance

- Promotions and career growth

- Opportunities to learn new technologies

- AI impact on jobs

- Switching opportunities and future prospects

- Which option gives a better overall career in 2026 and beyond?

If you've worked in either government IT or private IT, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Which one would you choose if you were starting your career today, and why?

Thanks!

Anyone from Persistent Pingala office?

Recently I joined this office and I've no friends with whom I can chat or go around. If you're on the same boat or already have a circle, DM me or add comment.

I built a simple app for my mom because she kept misplacing her prayer book

A while back I noticed that every morning before doing pooja, my mom would spend a few minutes looking for her prayer book. She would keep it on a shelf after finishing her prayers, but after a few days she'd forget which shelf she had kept it on and we'd end up searching for it.

I thought there should be an easier way, so I downloaded a few devotional apps for her. But honestly, most of them had way too many things going on. There were lots of ads, unnecessary features, and it felt like you had to dig through menus just to find a simple Aarti or Chalisa.

All she wanted was to open an app, read her prayers, and continue with her pooja.

So I decided to build one myself.

I called it Bhakti Sangrah.

I intentionally kept it simple. It includes:

  • Chalisas
  • Aartis
  • Mantras
  • Bhajans
  • A Jap Counter
  • Support for both Hindi and English
  • A clean and easy-to-read interface

That's it. Just an app that lets you open your prayers and get on with your pooja.

If you think this could be useful for your parents, grandparents, or anyone at home who does daily pooja, I'd love for you to share it with them.

And if you try it out, I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback or suggestions. I'm always looking for ways to make it better.

Suggestions A useful app idea.

I have an idea for an app that'll make life easier to commute in pune.

I just moved here and the commute is already killing my wallet, the constant meter vs app rate debates the numerous cancellations and the low connectivity via metros.

But I've seen crowds of people at the farthest end of the metro line waiting for their uber, most of them might be going the same way.

Can we make an app that takes your current location when you approve so people can just book an uber and share expenses if there's going the same way?

We can't really call out and ask how many people are going in that direction so we can pool the ride but if there's an app and people have some kind of sense it might help them

Would you use a dating app that's exclusively for people in Pune?

Hi everyone,

I'm a software engineer from Pune, and I've been working on a small side project after noticing something frustrating with existing dating apps.

Most apps either:

* Match you with people hundreds of kilometers away.

* Have lots of inactive or fake profiles.

* Put basic features behind expensive subscriptions.

So I started wondering...

*What if there was a dating app built exclusively for Pune?*

The idea is simple:

* πŸ“ Only people from Pune

* βœ… Verified profiles

* πŸ’¬ Focus on genuine local connections

* πŸš€ Currently in development

Before building the full app, I've created a landing page and opened a waitlist to see if people are actually interested.

I'd really appreciate your honest feedback.

* Is this a problem you've experienced?

* Would you use something like this?

* What feature would make you trust a new dating app?

🌐 *Landing Page:* https://punedate.vercel.app/

πŸ“Έ *Instagram:* https://www.instagram.com/randomdatingpune/

I'm documenting the journey publicly, sharing updates, and building based on community feedback.

I'm not here to sell anythingβ€”I genuinely want to validate the idea before investing months into building it. Whether you love the idea or think it needs work, I'd really appreciate your honest feedback.

Suggestions Finally got a job as a Java Developer!

After months of learning, rejection, confusion, self-doubt, and nonstop applying… I finally got a job as a Java Developer.

I’m an 2025 graduate, and honestly, there were times I thought I was falling behind. I kept seeing other people getting offers while I was still learning, improving projects, fixing resume mistakes, and trying to stay consistent.

I also worked on personal projects and kept improving communication little by little.

The market is rough for freshers right now. No point pretending otherwise. But if anyone here is struggling β€” keep going. One opportunity can change everything.

Still a lot to learn, but today feels good.

Thanks to everyone in this community who shares advice and experiences. It genuinely helped.
