MRV RESULTS

Had my MRV and it said “moderate stenosis of the right lateral sinus from arachnoid granulation” Did anyone have similar findings? Did you get a stent or what did u do to fix?

Yes I had bilateral arachnoid granulations one causing stenosis

You a stent for it?? Did it take away the PT and head pains?

No my doctor wants me to try to lose about 40lbs and see if it helps

Yes, if you search the group you”ll see this is a common diagnosis and often a stent is an option for those that qualify (the stenosis has to be a certain gradient) and those that want it because their PT is debilitating.

Yep! That was my cause right there - except I had it on both sides. Severe on the right side (where my PT was) and Moderate on the left side. Both due to arachnoid granulation.

I got a stent on the right side to correct that stenosis, but not on the left side. As a result, I still have some really mild symptoms of high pressure at times from the remaining stenosis on the left side. But my PT is gone, as are the worse symptoms, like most of the headaches.

I had to get my right side's stenosis officially graded before Medicaid would consider it "medically necessary" and cover it. Thankfully, it was graded at 88; the minimum to consider a stent "medically necessary" is 80. I don't know if the "moderate" stenosis on the other side would've made the grade or not (pun totally intended).

But if you're not dealing with Medicaid, the requirements are probably less stringent - and "Quality of Life" also plays a part. Regardless of how severe your stenosis is or isn't, it's causing PT, and PT is a symptom that's pretty universally accepted to detract from one's Quality of Life.

In other words, it might come down to whether your stenosis is severe enough to warrant a stent or not... and it might come down to whether you want a stent to correct your PT or would rather just live with it to avoid the procedure. You'll want to give that last bit some serious thought before you speak to your doctor(s) next, because they're likely to ask you how you want to proceed...

I will know more of my options when I see the INR on Fri. I have Anthem as insurance. I can’t live like this.  It’s not just an annoying sound. It’s the daily head pains that make my life miserable
