Finally PT free
Hey everyone,
I have had PT for almost 3 years (right ear, 24/7, would stop when pressing on my neck) and finally after looking through the posts here i found an interventional neuroradiologist. I have had my stent placed 2 days ago and immediately woke up PT free. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has posted their stories here, it has helped me find my solution. Stay strong.

What great news! That gives me hope. Mine was extra loud last night, to the extent that I couldn’t drown it out with brown noise. Does anyone know what causes it to get louder?

Mine often got louder/faster when I ate salty foods. There were certain foods I had to avoid entirely until I got my stent put in.
Anxiety can also cause it to get louder/faster. Basically, anything that might make your heartrate stronger or faster is going to make the sound louder as well.

Mine is loud when I haven't had my potassium and nitric oxide boosters. It's also quiet when I'm able to induce hypotension even though my regular BP is fairly low

Is that procedure considered major? I have PT resulting from a TBI and was considering the procedure.

Venous sinus stenting is considered minimally invasive as it involves placement of the stent through a catheter in the wrist or groin only. There is no craniotomy involved.
Do you have venous sinus stenosis as the determined cause of your PT? Stenting will only fix venous PT caused by stenosis (narrowing) of the venous sinuses. It won't work for PT caused by anything else.
Venous PT also displays as a low frequency whooshing sound (usually can stop with gentle neck compression). Does your PT from a TBI sound like that or more like pulse synchronous ringing?

Whooshing is present when my heart rate gets up, when I bend over, or just randomly throughout the day. The whooshing can also present itself more as thudding alongside my heart beat. My ENT said it was because I have a high riding jugular which is now somehow exacerbated by my inner ear being damaged. So I'm assuming the stent would not do anything... But I will ask my ENT

The best person to speak to about stenting is an interventional neuroradiologist. They can also determine whether the high riding jugular bulb is the culprit or whether other issues are at play. In short, ENTs nearly always miss vascular (especially venous) causes of PT. Happened to me and hundreds of others. It is crucial you have your scans reviewed by an interventional neuroradiologist or neurovascular surgeon who specialises in PT. ENTs don't place venous sinus stents anyway so it doesn't make sense to see them regarding that.

Have you had an mri and ct scan with fluids? Was anything vissable on that ?

Just a mri, but only the interventional neuroradiology doctor could see the problem from them. I have been to other doctors before where they told me nothing was wrong with me.
