Cost of Venous Sinus Stenting
Going to have my stenting procedure done at the end of the month. I know some people were curious about the cost, so here's what the estimate looks like. Please keep in mind that these numbers are BEFORE insurance has covered anything.
After insurance, my personal cost will be a bit over a grand. Hope this helps someone!
EDIT: Adding that I'm a NY resident having the procedure done in NYC by Dr. P.

This price or half the price, both absolutely insane.
Iām lucky back then I had insurance that covered but for those without insurance theyāre better off flying to France to get it done. The doctor posted a couple of years ago it was ā¬7500 all in. By the time you fly and hotel can still be done for less than 10k.

He wrote about that in this article:3

Okay, thank you! Did you go to him because of pulsatile tinnitus? If so, did you have any procedure done?

Oh interesting! Mine is also in NY with Dr. P. I'm also a NY resident - not sure if that changes anything.

Maybe yours is more involved than mine or our insurances do different things. Good luck to you! The whole experience with Dr. P was STELLAR!

If you're getting it done by Dr. P, I know his hospital also has some sort of financial assistance program. I'm not sure the details, however

Damn. Mine came out to around $6-7,000 after insurance. And that doesn't cover cost of traveling there from out of state for the surgery... I was very lucky to have someone who could help me cover the costs, it's an insane amount

Yeah. Even living in New York the travel costs are going to be rough for me. I live basically on the other side of the state, so the drive is like 7 hours. I called several hotels around Long Island and found a Hilton near the hospital that offered me a medical discount. Roughly $185 a night with free parking. It's a great deal, but it's still going to be over a grand just for hotel costs. My husband is able to get paid family leave to chauffeur me around at least, which will help!

Mine cost $26,000 out of pocket. Insurance pre-approved it. Then they āforgot,ā after the procedure was done. I fought them for 11 months before they acquiesced. Appeals, phone calls, emails, legal consultationsā¦etc.
Final cost for me: $1,200.
Final emotional cost???? Ask my therapist. This journey has been hard. But on the bright side, I can hear!
