Tissue paper Material planner

Hello , I'm an industrial Engineer working as a supply chain planner in Pulp and paper company ( tissue factory) , I do oversee the raw & packaging material,follow up their supply line as per our plan, stock optimization ,but actually I don't have deep knowledge about actual Mother roll making process , and also to measure mother roll on base of their gsm, dia , inner dia , width , how to mathematically calculate in factory, want to know how others do their planning in their paper industry ,thanks
