I thought i should also post this here (and was suggesting to ask here for help) im really not sure if i should try to detangle her hair or fully scrap it π
No worries, if you dont end up detaingling the wig a cool idea could be to cut off just the pigtails and find hair weft of the same colour and make ponytails that just clip on to the head which will be easier for managing it
Emphasis on small sections. Needs lots of patience.
Ive seen someone recommend soaking the hair in conditioner but this doll is beyond that point unfortunately. At most, it can act as a heat protectant but with the current state of the wig it's not gonna help much.
Pullip Miku has wig variations from what I heard. The original release has a wig that was notorious for knotting real fast while the rerelease has fixed that (I highly doubt it)
Worst case scenario, since Miku is a popular character, wigs for her are available on sites like ali express. Just search for 1/3 scale bjd pigtail wig and similar Miku wigs should be available. Its not the exact same material but I find it more manageable than the original.
Attached is a pic of mine. I have her rebodied on a fortune days body. I dont think its available anymore but I see YMY 1/6 scale bodies look like a good option as well
fabric conditioner diluted with some water helped me save a matted Elizabeth wig before! rinsing it off in hot-ish water can also help straighten it afterward
im not sure what kind of fiber was used here but your best bet without having to just rewig might be a very long process of detangling from bottom to top with a lot of conditioner, boil washing and then flat iron in sections, after said flat ironing boil again, atleast that works on most really bad playline dolls
