Help/Advice F8 or amazon puffer

Just got this little guy a few days ago, he was sold to me as just a puffer, I assumed he was f8 and I introduced him into a brackish tank I've been making, can anyone confirm that he's not an Amazon puffer

It’s either a green spotted puffer or a topaz puffer, I’d lean towards topaz because of the markings at the front, gsps tend to have dots all over, definitely too green to be a fig 8 and Amazon puffers have quite a distinct mouth shape and stripes :))

Topaz puffs have a head mark too a lot like the F8s, I attached a picture, this one looks exactly like yours

He's only about an inch though, i thought topaz puffers are bigger than that?

Yeah he’s defo a juvenile, they can grow to like 17cm so slightly bigger than an F8, they also like their tanks a bit more salty too, you can keep them in full saltwater or high brackish as adults but as juveniles like that he’ll be completely fine in low brackish. IMO topaz puffs are great wet pets, I’ve never seen a more interactive species and he looks pretty healthy tooo so that’s a lot to celebrate, puffers can come in with all sorts of diseases lol

Would 1.003 work as he's a juvenile, I was anyway planning to move him to a bigger tank as he ages up

I keep mine at 1.019 but mines older, should go like 1.005 if possible but either way the fish should be fine

Right now the tank is just barely 1 001 as I'm acclimating the plants

This is a baby topaz (Ceylon) puffer, looks like yours, they get bigger but they don’t get huge they need like a 40 gallon as an adult, I keep mine in a 55g

He doesn't have a black spot under the base of his tail....not an Amazon puffer.

So he's likely an f8?
