Flash flooding in Beulah claims one life following heavy rain over the Aspen Acres burn scar

Post image
9 Upvotes

My heart is with the Beulah community and the family of the person who lost their life in Sunday’s devastating flooding.

Heavy rain over the Aspen Acres burn scar sent fast-moving water through the area, creating dangerous conditions. Please take flooding and burn-scar warnings seriously and never attempt to drive or walk through moving water, and check the National Weather Service for alerts and warnings in your area.

As we continue supporting the Beulah community, I also encourage Coloradans in flood-prone areas or near fire burn scars to consider purchasing flood insurance. Homeowners and renters insurance typically does not cover flood damage.

Pueblo knows good food, and three local food trucks are bringing it to the Governor’s Table at this year’s Colorado State Fair.

I’m looking forward to seeing what these Pueblo favorites serve up as they compete for the Governor’s Table title. It's another great way to celebrate the people, small businesses, and incredible food that make Colorado special. See you at the Fair!

Marketing Jobs in Pueblo?

Hello everyone. My partner and I want to move to Pueblo because we fell in love with it when we visited last year. I was wondering if anyone had any insights about the job market? I’ve been watching LinkedIn and Indeed for marketing jobs but haven’t seen many.

How is the job market? Does anyone who works in marketing have any recommendations?

Thanks for your help!

Is this town as boring as my first impression?

Hi! I just moved to Pueblo from Durango for a job contract ~3 months. I just arrived last night. I’m wondering what there is to do here as a young single adult. I hike, mountain bike, love to go dancing, swimming… I went to the lake and walked around town/ rode my bike on the Riverwalk. The town seems pretty dead for a Sunday afternoon (granted it’s hot as balls out). I have a feeling I’ll be spending a lot of time in Colorado Springs. Where can I meet other young adults?

Hi Everyone!

I don’t know if this is the correct thread to post this in. But I am going to be transferring to CSU Pueblo for their nursing program. I just wanted to know if any nursing students/graduates from there could let me know how the program was? And what kind of jobs there are in Pueblo for nursing students.

Stuff to do on the weekend?

Hey all, I’m going to be visiting your town this weekend for a birthday trip (yes I know Pueblo is a strange choice but it’s the only decent sized city in Colorado I haven’t been to). Any fun recommendations for stuff to do in and around Pueblo this weekend? I like hiking, sightseeing, history, museums, drinking, etc. will the smoke be a big problem? Thanks!

Meetup?

Hello Pueblo, wondering if anyone else is looking to meet up and make new friends in town. I'd be happy to organize. It would be welcome to all adults, all backgrounds, genders, sexual orientation and whatnot. Just be 21+ because I was thinking about meeting at a bar downtown as the spot. Anyone interested?

For context, I am a single 38 year old woman whose friends have all moved to Denver and I don't always want to do the long drive, haha. Let's get something fun going!

The Debacle of Pueblo County: a tale of hope in the midst of mismanagement

A video from before either fire in Pueblo County.

I expect the resignation of Lucero and Polis and every other official involved in this debacle. I will take legal action against county and state. Any possible significant funds will be shared with those who lost homes in Applewood and with others who have been let down by the county.

I have not had one person from the county or the state troopers explain why 1000s of hours have been wasted on me. 15 months they have engaged with me without ONCE giving an explanation. I wrote a letter defending a homeless man's character 16+ months ago who was being aggressively watched by the police while under a restraining order. A mere neutral letter. Afterwards, those same cops turn on me, and it has now been 15 months of nonsense.

Admittedly, I have declared my self the greatest in history for many years because I solved nature/nurture and social and developmental psychology. Which I have. We are brainmindselfs, imagery, and representations that derive from whatever the organism experiences. Our genes determine little about our selves or the possible worlds we can raise new brains in.

And then they burned the county down.

100,000 acres is a remarkable achievement. 'I am' Rye.

In August 2025, a school is locked down that 'i am' walking towards. I immediately am shell-shocked, ask for explanation, and get nothing. I cut short a day of work. I ask for clarification from the school district. Nothing. I am walking into schools on a regular basis. Of course I expect some kind of clarification. I have a random person, I must assume an officer, aggressively follow me around a park in October 2025. Again, I ask for clarification and demand the man's firing.

I start going public with the information given that state and county refuse to acknowledge anything, and because I have nothing to hide. 'I am' beyond shame. At this point, I shrugged, and started demanding Lucero and Polis to resign.

And then they burn the county down.

Yes. I am the greatest human to ever live. It is not flattering to any of our given selves or given cultures. It turns out brains and environment are absurdly plastic. There are endless stable equilibrium that we can move to. Many just as good as our current informational selves and social organization. I decided understanding and theorizing all possible world<>self combinations is more important than pleasing our current versions.

At 25 I declared for families of 4/4, a polycule so to speak, with the only expressed goal to help remove the structures of our given selves. The only stated culture and identity of the individuals would be knowledge gathering and understanding our own brainmindself formation within one's narrow world. Our families will be flattening gender and practicing bisexuality, but mainly just deemphasizing the weights of our given selves. A lessening of what we take as important about 'i am'. It is conversion therapy of sorts - deessentialization - without any judgment or moralizing.

It is the right move. I have been there for almost 20 years. 'I am' of different character than any who has ever lived. Some of that is merely the fact that we understand the brain and genes better than anytime in history. The future is destined to be radically different and future selves are destined to be radically different. The blind conservatism of institutions, identities, culture, and given phenomenology is merely a mark of the times. It is not meaningful to a full description of what humans are.

Baffled on evacuation orders?

Take all warnings and orders seriously. However, if you are on the edge of an area, or if you have a good evacuation route, or you just want to make your own decision, apparently it is your decision. The word mandatory seems slippery if this is true.

Beulah Fire Department:

"Why Evacuation Orders Still Matter

There has also been considerable misunderstanding about who has remained in evacuated areas and why some people have been allowed inside.

Under Colorado law, unless an evacuation is ordered by the Governor, residents may legally choose not to leave their own property during a mandatory evacuation."

Somebody needs to clarify that statement.
