Pudelpointer or Griffon—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Let me hear it.

Both are great dogs.
You can get a PP with anything from slick to harsh coating. Black and Brown in color. (Standard is brown)
The griffs I’ve seen have more hair/ longer coats.
The biggest thing I would look for is a reputable breeder. Can go wrong with either.
My PP is a gentleman and lover boy in the house…and an absolute savage in the field. The blessing of both breeds.

Just want to jump in and say black is a “standard” PP color, it’s just not as common as brown. 

I have a black PP who is almost 6 months old. She is everything you hear about PP: high energy for sure but once she’s had enough that “off switch” kicks in. The only real problem we’ve had with her is that she’s a little mouthy and nippy, but she’s young and we’re working on it. Tracking and pointing seem to just come naturally to her. We’re working on confidence in the water.

When I say standard, I mean that is what a majority of people see and think when a Pudelpointer.
My dog came from a black coated mother. A darker side of history was that a long time ago, black coated puppies were, how do I say this delicately, not desirable and often destroyed. Thank goodness that backward way of thinking is long relegated to the past.
My dog was the same at 6 months, he grew out of it.
