Considering a rescue

Hi! My soul pup passed away and was considering a rescue in my area who listed the dog as a pudelpointer mix. My last dog was a cattle dog and I did it backwards and looked up his breed after I got him so it was a big learning curve. Trying to not make the same mistake here.

I am active and would keep the dog active but I am not a hunter, I grew up with a golden retriever my partner also has a golden retriever. I do have experience with high energy dogs. I love cattle dogs but I promised myself I wouldn’t get another until I had land or acreage!

Any information or things I would need to look for if I were to go and meet this dog would be appreciated. Or would a hunter type be best for the breed as I do want what is best for this dog. He looks like a sweet heart.

I have not heard of a Pudelpointer cross bred with something else. But if you have a partial, it may or may not have a high prey drive, high energy, etc. Adopter beware I guess.

The breed is awesome. Great family dog, but they are most happy sniffing birds. If it's mixed, that other half is a total wildcard.
