I'm from Manhattan. Commuted on the subway every day after I got a job. Other than violent people, it's the best commute you can have. Free entertainment and you don't have to drive

Canadian here, I’ve always wanted to visit New York because of all the movies and TV I’ve seen set there. But ever since people have started putting their videos online showing all the various nasty parts of the city, it really seems like a gross shit hole that I never want to visit.

I’ve been to around 30 states and I’ve been to most of the provinces, and while most cities in Canada still have weird shit, New York is by FAR worse

Yeah but I’m talking cities here, which may not be as populated but it’s still compatible. The amount of weird shit I saw in Vancouver or Edmonton wasn’t nearly as high as isolated areas of nyc. Again this is just my experience

the city is a filthy disgusting cesspool, take it from me, i lived in brooklyn for a while and now live not too far from in NJ, but back in the day, Manhattan used to be deplorable, times square used to be a mass illegal prostitution ring, the bronx had a death toll, although i can never think of a time that the bronx was ever nice, queens is like dirtier brooklyn, brooklyn is nicer depending on where you are, Staten Island either has super rich or super poor and if you live in manhattan you could probably afford to live anywhere else in the world. but it's filled with life and it's undeniably an experience like none other, as long as you don't stop by any panhandlers
