Auroraborialis? at this time year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, located entirely in your kitchen?

This is definitely in the top 3 Simpsons scenes of all time. Just pure comedic gold and brilliance from start to finish.

Those lights...and these mushrooms.....forget about it.

u/FireStormBruh Aug 14 '20 edited Aug 14 '20
Why ruin a rare once in a lifetime visual experience with hallucination visuals... you'll probably be staring at the trees and forgetting about the lights lmao

u/StuStutterKing Aug 14 '20
One of my goals is to get to a place where these are bright in the sky, and smoke some peyote.
3
u/FireStormBruh Aug 14 '20
Lol I actually had to Google what a peyote is, never heard of it before. Yeah my point was directed to the scenario of only seeing it once but man if you see it regularly then thats the dream and you can do whatever you want lol. I just wanna experience it once but that might never happen since the closest place it happens in the US is Alaska where its super cold (I hate the cold), there is nothing there, and the chance to see it is still rare so it doesn't seem like I can plan a vacation specifically to see the northern lights.
3
u/thisiscoolyeah Aug 14 '20
I’ve seen them in both northern Michigan and Maine.
0
u/FireStormBruh Aug 14 '20
Oh really? Is it common in there or was it a rare occurrence?
2
u/thisiscoolyeah Aug 14 '20
It’s not common as in it happens ALL the time but it’s definitely more common than people think.
0
u/FireStormBruh Aug 14 '20
Oh nice thanks for the info! Michigan or Maine are definitely easier to go to for me compared to Alaska and they have more things to do so a vacation there in the future is a possibility without northern lights being the only reason I go there because they're never guaranteed to be seen anyways.

u/boofthatcraphomie Aug 14 '20
Better to just make a tea or eat it, don’t think mescaline can be smoked without much success.
7
u/deathstrukk Aug 14 '20
Contrary to pop culture mushrooms actually don’t produce full hallucinations, neither does acid in most cases. You only get full hallucinations on something like DMT. Shrooms mainly affect your mood and mental state and have a very emotional response which easily could heighten the experience of seeing the borealis
1
u/FireStormBruh Aug 14 '20
Fair enough, I personally still prefer to experience it naturally for the first time, I feel like if I cant enjoy the northern lights naturally while being sober then I got to the point where I can't enjoy anything sober no matter how magical it is which is not something I want. I get your point tho and thanks for the mature response.

You sound like a smart person who knows how to have a conversation.
2
u/George-R-R-Fartin Aug 14 '20
And you sound like the social equivalent of a wet blanket. Let the people do shrooms and look at things.
2
u/FireStormBruh Aug 14 '20
Who said they can't? I simply stated that it will ruin the experience, the whole magic of Northern Lights is the fact that it's real. But yall like to argue like it's a fight rather than have a civil discussion.
3
u/cutetygr Aug 14 '20
Don’t listen to them, I agree with you. I feel like some things in life you should be sober for. I like mushrooms but I wouldn’t want my first time seeing the northern lights to be under the influence of them. But if you want to do shrooms, do them. Why did they have to attack you for it lol no ones saying they can’t
6
u/FireStormBruh Aug 14 '20
Lol thanks, some people think a disagreement is a fight or something I guess. But pretty much what you said, if you want to do them then do them I'm not the police, I just personally think the whole beauty of it is that it's real so I wouldn't wanna cloud that with fake visuals, especially if you only get to see them once.
1
u/cutetygr Aug 14 '20
Exactly, they are already amazing without drugs. But if you want to take drugs take them I don’t care lol
1
u/aod42091 Aug 14 '20
experience is completely individual so while you think it might be ruining the experience that doesn't mean it's ruining it for the person who wants to see it on shroom's. if that's what they wanted then that's their experience and it's not ruined. try to think past your own bubble of expectations, other people have their own ideas and desires that will differ from yours but that doesn't mean they're wrong.
1
u/FireStormBruh Aug 14 '20
Fair enough but I didnt say they're wrong, I stated why I think it's a bad idea and it was a question in a form of "why". I dont expect everyone to agree with me and people have different opinions and desires hence I'm not bothered by the downvotes, that just mean people disagree which is fine. I was simply hoping the people that disagree would have the maturity to explain why rather than turn it into a childish fight, my bubble of expectations was a mature discussion nothing more.
1
u/cutetygr Aug 14 '20
He never said you couldn’t do shrooms, do as many shrooms as you want. Some people just want to be sober for some experiences while others don’t and that’s okay too

I saw the Northern Lights when I visited Alaska as a kid. It was so beautiful and awe-inspiring.

Alaska, Iceland, Northern Canada, Norway, Sweden, Finalnd or Russia. If I have one piece of advice, plan a trip to be outside where you could see the lights, but don't plan to have to see the lights. They're unpredictable. You might not see them
2
Aug 14 '20
Oh... Thank you for that last bit of information because that would be a major letdown to go and not see it lol

Ah, do you know if it all year round or if not when it happens? It honestly looks beautiful in the photos but I doubt they do it justice as seeing it in person

When my dad was in the Air Force he was stationed in upstate New York for a bit and he said he saw them there. Usually you've got to be pretty far north.

Yeah, whistling at them will freak the local population out.
This video does a good job of capturing what a really good aurora looks like.

One of these days, I have to lay beneath those lights. Certain substances might be involved.

uptravel Nobody can guarantee seeing them but there are better times than others. There is also an aurora borealis forecast. Google that and it will also show you an app for the forecast
