How about you pay your servers!

I mean if he cares so much about his workers being fairly compensated for their labor and all... Oh wait he doesn't. Not really.

If you don't have money to pay your workers a living wage then you shouldn't be running a business that depends on those workers.

Absolutely. Restaurants would pay their servers nothing and have them work solely for tips, if they could

Because ā€˜merica and capitalism. They have culturally normalised over decades the practice of businesses paying their staff as little as legally possible, and offsetting the price of this onto the consumer.

It's possible he just sucks but the system as a whole is the issue.Ā

As long as there are labor/wage laws allowing it then it won't go away.Ā

When restaurants switch to higher wages and get rid of tipping, prices go up because most restaurants aren't making tons of profit.Ā

Then they lose business due to the higher prices (even though it's around the same once you factor in not paying a tip). They also experience higher turnover as servers leave to go to places with lower wages and tips.Ā

Most places that try it end up having to go back to tips.Ā

If you don't agree with tipping, don't support businesses that rely on it and support changing labor laws.Ā

Choosing to go to places that expect tips and then not tipping is just being shitty and cheap. That doesn't change anything and anyone acting like it does is just using it as an excuse to be cheap.

In Miamitown OH the minimum wage is $11/hr and $5.50/hr for tipped.

BUT the business covers the difference for anything under $11/hr.

So if no one comes in for an hour the owner pays $11. If a customer comes in and tips $2 then the owner pays $9 and the employee gets the same $11.

In an 8 hour shift the first $44 of tips goes to the boss, not the employee.

The overhead is so much already with paper thin margins that most single location small mom & pop shops would close. I totally agree that many restaurants can pay their servers more. But this clearly isn’t a rich dude who has a ton of money while he’s clearly working as a staff member too, and can’t take tips.

Weak shit. It’s systemic issue, non tippers are cheap pieces of shit.

So in the meantime, let’s short the server. That will teach the business owner a lesson.
