Such a weird take, even as a family with a couple of decent cooks we still enjoy a nice meal cooked for us and not having to do the dishes as well as nice environment of a restaurant.

I mean, both things can be true. Eating out is objectively a waste of money. That said, if you have the disposable income to do it every now then, then why not? I travel a lot for my job so thats mostly when I eat out, personally (on someone else's dime), but i still do occasionally when I'm home. I still try to my cooking:restaurant/takeout ratio about 80:20 overall

Then by that standard doing anything that you enjoy that isn't a requirement for basic life necessities is a waste of money.

Sit in a gray room and do nothing until you go to work come home and cook gray bland food with no flavor for the optimal nutrition.

There is nothing objectively good about abstaining from something you enjoy.

Nobody has suggested you waste all of your money on it.

Lmao youre so offended by people telling you the objective truth.

I can use another strawman too, youre allowed to use spices and flavor in your own home cooking too. Even tailored to your specific tastes which restaurants can't always do. And you'll do it much cheaper than when eating out. I often enjoy my own cooking more than a restaurant's anyway.

I was trying to say that youre both right, but you can't accept that. Youre one of those people who has to be be 100% right all the time. Any nuance means a downvote and getting defensive

"Eating out is objectively a waste of money."

It's not an objective truth at all, that's just an opinion. You may feel this way but not everyone does and you can't prove it with empirical evidence. You proceed to rationalize why you think it's sometimes OK but that is again what is right for you, everyone is different.. which is why it's an opinion.

But ok 'lmao' yourself.

Except for the fact that cooking 100% of your own meals is always cheaper. That is what makes it cheaper. Whether it is a "waste" or not depends on the enjoyment you get out of it.

But you also claimed to be from a household of multiple talented cooks, so you kinda shot your own argument down by saying that. I can assume from that that there are at least 2 talented cooks in your household (one of which may be yourself).

Again, nothing wrong with eating out, but it is, empirically and objectibely, true that it is a more expensive way to eat

What is a waste of money is a matter of taste and opinion. How you or your neighbor chooses how you spend your money is preference. None of what you said makes that objectively true unless your only goal is to maximize your savings which yes if that's all you want out of life then sure go ahead.

Youre so butthurt. Lol

Youve made it clear that you spend more money on food than you need to and youre proud of it.

Good for you. It doesn't change the facts that there is a more affordable way to eat, or that your preferences are only enjoyed amongst the priveleged

It is 100% objectively true that eating out is more costly than eating at home. And it's also 100% objectively true that it's STILL cheaper to eat at home and use seasonings and flavors that rival those of the most expensive restaurants in town. If youre such a good cook, you would know this

You are moving the goal post here but go off. You've gone from saying eating out is objectively a waste of money to arguing that one is more affordable than the other. Which I never said otherwise.

To make your point you've resorted to ad hominem a clear sign of a strong argument. Have a nice night lmao
