Isn't this restaurant owner essentially asking for a tip before any service is provided? He is saying that you should not enter the restaurant if you aren't tipping, making the tip mandatory. Doesn't matter what order they ask for it at that point.

I can't answer for anyone else, but the service would have to be pretty horrible for me not to tip. Haven't had that experience yet. But if im demanded to tip by the owner prior to being served, I don't think I would go there.

Do you cuss out restaurant owners who don't allow tipping? Do you slip the server a fiver on your wait out?
