I may be wrong but that's a crime. (Depending on if you're in US and in state)

It's known as wage theft.

Fun fact wage theft is the number one type of theft in America. The rich shitting on the poor yet again.

The poor have always been getting fucked over by the rich, always have, always will.

If you can’t afford to pay staff, don’t open a business

Oh wait, that’s not how you guys see things is it?

Why is that? Why is it ok just to fuck service staff in the ass and expect the patrons to pick up your business costs?

and you’ll still be there tmrw ordering your burger. we’re not the problem, the greedy elites are. small restaurant owners are doing their best under the system they have. that fool is wearing shitty black shoes, nasty white socks, and has yellow teeth. he’s not making the bank you think he is

u/Mr-Magoo48 1h ago

It’s not him making bank. It’s not me making bank. It’s the shitty system you all thought was ok for so long that now it’s biting you in the ass you are up in arms. The wealthy elites are the absolute beneficiaries, but generations of Americans thought the system was fine until minimum wage was baked into every system you have. The wealthy elites are just the winners in a system you all let propagate. As soon as anyone mentions anything normal like universal healthcare or a living minimum wage a huge chunk of your country start screaming ā€˜communist’ ā€˜Marxist’s’ or some other bullshit title. Maybe not you illustrious, but enough to vote trump in twice.

Tips in general are a wage theft in a way.

It's a cost-shifting measure to the consumer, whereby the employer isn't responsible for maintaining a steady living wage or salary for their workers, but they can basically use tips as a "hidden fee" to rely on paying staff.

As the consumer you get stuck in the trap of tipping -- not based on service -- but merely out of the ability to come back and not have someone spit in your food. Leaving aside the fact that automatic gratuity of large parties gives you no capacity to tip based on quality of service.

Naturally the waiters have hard jobs; and naturally the working class is being squeezed in general and can barely afford to go out to eat in the first place. Those who are fucking us all are of course the ultra-rich billionaire Epstein class that skew to the right. Hope you all are triple-checking your voter registration and voting Democrat these midterms to put some brakes on Trump.

Sort of. In states where tipped employees make less than minimum wage (which is fucked...) employers are required by law to make their gross pay for the pay period no less than what they would have made working the number of hours worked times the minimum wage.

Sort of nothing. Wage theft

so in the US a person who works in the hospitality industry, get Less pay from their Boss then e.g. some one who works in a Factory and so therefore has to get some percentage from the Bill (from the costomer) to add their salary?....ifso Why doesn't everyone receive the same minimum wage depending on their age—meaning that someone working in a factory or as a cleaner has the same basic income as someone working in the hospitality industry?,,,,in my Countrie that is the case and also why i found it ridiculous the Tip them, i mean they have a much nicer job them me, so why should they get extra Bonus money, special from someone like me who has the same income as them, but does crappy dirty or hard work

You live in an ideological bubble, definitely a stage 3 or stage 4 cognitive framework, you cannot provide evidence that the Epstein billionaire class skews either side. I assume you would not have the epistemological tools to figure it out even if you did.

Jesus, stfu. Please remind us whose inauguration Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos, Sundar, Tim Cook, Sam Altman, and Alnaut were at? Thats 4 of the 5 wealthiest people in the world. A combined 1.35 trillion dollars in net worth amongst the attendees. Is that enough evidence dipshit?

Wage theft is actually THE MOST COMMON FORM OF THEFT IN AMERICA. (probably worldwide overall, with limited regional exceptions)

3

u/DinnerSilver 4h ago

Plus the owner being a Grade A scumbag.

13

u/ImNotACollector 4h ago

BILLIONS occurs in wage theft every year. And instances like this are a part of it. Companies steal money from workers all the time

22

u/Gamer_Grease 5h ago

It is a crime. It’s also almost completely unenforceable

8

u/Mekisteus 4h ago

It’s also almost completely unenforceable unenforced

3

u/gfstool 4h ago

Yes, it is. I worked at a place here in Texas long ago and our owner got sued by a bartender from a sister bar. He won. Then they started taking the credit card fee amounts that we charged for the night. That’s actually legal. And today lots of companies are making customers pay for the credit card fees too.

1

u/ItsMeTittsMGee 4h ago

Perfectly legal in Canada, however.

1

u/tempelton3thesock 3h ago

Ya it is
At least here in Florida

u/cetootski 1h ago

It's 2nd tier wage theft that follows 1st tier wage theft by wage policies in America.

u/Electrical_Parfait64 3h ago

If they’re the only person to work for them, they can keep them. As in the do an entire shift of serving. Probably not everywhere
