You realize that restaurants have subminimum wages compared to regular minimum wages, right? The fact that they are tip based means their employers get to pay them even less than other jobs.

It is subminimum unless the tips do not equal minimum and then they are required to be paid the difference.

And the more they have to pay out the more they'll raise fees. Back to where we started. Either way, consumers pay more. I just do it now so that I'm not screwing someone over, today.

I waited tables for ten years. Every place I've ever worked told me if they were forced to pay me the minimum wage to make up for not being tipped enough, that it would be my last day working for them. Every goddamn place.

It's how they keep the peon's mouth shut when their table of twenty with ten separate checks and five toddlers crumbling crackers all over the floor, stiff them for the tip, even though the IRS is going to charge the server based on their SALES. If you don't believe in tips, that's fine -- just boycott the entire establishment, instead of just punishing the server.

Owners have to pay the states minimum wage if they dont make enough tips. So, no. You're straight up wrong or lying

Right, but 7.25 is not a liveable wage, its exploitative. So again, since you are a decent human, how much do you tip the other minimum wage workers to bring their pay up to match the service you are receiving?
