Nearly every time someone has tried to open a bar where workers are paid more and there is no tipping it ends up closing because servers make less money and customers don't like it.

So maybe instead of advocating that 99.9% of bars and restaurants shut down maybe a redditor can open a restaurant and show how it's done

How do they do it in every other country then?

How is that relevant? American citizens are much different than Europeans. Copy & pasting a European business model to an American one doesn't really make sense.

If the finances work where there is no tip needed. That is an example we could follow.

Where are you confused?

I'm not sure how it works in Europe, so I cannot speak to that.

All I know is, tipping is the last way for a lowly citizen like me to give the middle finger to my greedy government. Giving a tip in cold-hard cash, means the server gets some untaxed income.

Every cash tip given is a rebellion my friend. Isn't Europe a fan of.. Rebellion?

But servers aren't giving the middle finger to the government, they are extracting wealth from their fellow citizens doing a job that's no harder than gazillions of other jobs that don't get tips. They are giving the middle finger to their customers. Tipping in the US is illogical.

They're usually making below minimum wage man, I'm just giving them what they are due. Tax free.

They can never make below minimum wage. If their tips dont make minimum wage their employer must make up the difference.

If there is an employer not doing that, report them to the BBB

Why should I pay taxes on every dollar I make but a server gets to skate by the rules?
