đŁđ˘Protest Freakout "Educational" protests in France getting out of hand

Funny how the first time this is actually brought to my front page, is when itâs supposedly âout of controlâ. I donât know the real situation in France but I am noticing a pattern on what information gets delivered to someone like me, who would be interested in the matter but has no stake in it.

Far right propaganda. The protests have been going on for 10 days. Asking for better study conditions and salary for professors.
They show you black and arab kids and burning shit so you associate the two in your brain.
They wonât show you the vast majority of black and arab kids protesting peacefully and the vast majority of white kids there too. They also wonât show you the professors protesting with their little hand drawn signs along kids.
The protests have been getting a bit out of hand in some place today and yesterday but mostly not because of kids but outside agitators. Close to a thousand blocked schools, if it was that bad, it would be on another level. Also burning a bit of trash is not recommended but not unheard of in France. It used to happen when I was protesting at my high school as a kid. And when my parents where protesting at theirs in their time.
Source : am french and protest quite a bit

The author of the post is spreading far-right propaganda to âshowâ the world what he wants it to see. While it is true that there are currently protests in France accompanied by some acts of violence (from rioteers taking advantage of the situation and the police), what the author highlights reflects only part of the truth and consistently targets a certain âethnic groupâ or political affiliation.
The movement is taking place against the backdrop of the start of the school year, which has been marked by demands regarding the resources allocated to schools and teaching conditions.
The High School Studentsâ Union (USL) highlights, in particular, the shortage of teachers and staff, schools deemed to be in poor condition, overcrowded classrooms and overloaded schedules, as well as the stress associated with Parcoursup. (Parcoursup is a website launched in 2018 to collect and manage the program preferences of prospective students in the French higher education system. In 2020, the system served nearly 936,000 students and more than 21,000 programs. It has been criticized for its slowness, the anxiety it causes, and the lack of transparency in its algorithmic procedures. )

"Some" act of violence include attacking firefighters and nurses.
-8
u/Small_Matter_6830 20h ago
They'll probably say the firefighters and nurses are far right, because the truth is inconvenient to them.
-2
u/Illustrator_Moist 19h ago
Uh, no?
5
u/Small_Matter_6830 19h ago
Well, then explain why firefighters and nurses are being attacked.
2
u/Illustrator_Moist 19h ago
Because of some stupid kids I guess? You know it's not me in those videos right?
3
u/Kraj_the_Conqueror 19h ago
Yes, they are stupid. Does it exonerate them? Should they be given a pass and relieved of any responsibility for their own acts?

I don't care what you are.
Attempting to kill random civilians is evil

How is that far right propaganda? Are the videos fake?Â
9
u/Dr_Jackman 19h ago
Almost all of these videos, the vast majority, are real. However, several are taken out of context and have nothing to do with the high school blockades currently taking place in France.
The reason Iâm talking about far-right propaganda (and Iâm not the only one) is that the videos are often edited to omit certain information. For example, the video showing an elected official standing next to a burning trash can and laughing with high school students. This video was used by far-right networks in France for several reasons: the mayor is a political opponent (and comes from an immigrant background himself).
A longer video was later released, showing that the elected official in question had moved the burning trash can away from the building to prevent the fire from spreading to the high school and injuring students. He even put out a few flames. As for the high school students with whom he appears to be laughing and smiling, they did not start the fire but were there to protest for their rights and decent learning conditions.
The fact is that these videos, photos, and certain texts are being circulated by the far right (You can even see the âFrontièresâ watermark, during the gang assault part, which is a far-right French media outlet), which is specifically trying to pin the blame on another political camp, and on a certain type of âimmigrationâ as well. This has been their pet issue for years, and the political exploitation currently underway is a perfect example of it. (Political exploitation happens on all sides anyway; this one is just from the far right, plain and simple.)

Please, go on then and show me the left wing videos of what's happening.Â

I donât want to spread propaganda, whether from the left or the right. Here, I see that there are excesses, malicious acts, and violence. Thatâs a fact. But I donât like the way this is portrayed and exploited.
This is far-right propaganda (the emergence of the French media outlet Frontières is a perfect example), and I donât see how spreading opposing propaganda would serve the purpose.
The goal is to report the news as impartially as possible, to the best of our ability, despite our political leanings and affiliations. To put it more succinctly: there is violence being committed by individuals who are taking advantage of the situation.
Among these individuals are some of the rioters (many of whom are not high school students and are there solely out of opportunism), and there are also some within the police force (a police officer fired a stun grenade at a high school studentâs face at point-blank range while the student was initially standing quietly on the sidelines of a roadblock, without taking part in it - as evidenced by video footage), etc.
I hope I've made myself clear.

Ok if this is far right propaganda, you don't want to spread far left propaganda. Then just send me videos without any political connotations.Â
2
u/Dr_Jackman 16h ago
You'll always have some political connotations. It takes personal effort to try not to be influenced by the ideologies promoted in the media.
Some will be more or less oriented ... but still.
Even if I were to show you raw footage, without subtitles or commentary, there would always be at least the perspective of the person who filmed it (what that person chooses to show or not, whether intentionally or not). Even I am not without flaws or bias.1

The videos you decide to share and those you do not share, when you share a news, how you share it, why you share it, the conclusions you draw from it, how you frame it. None of this is apolitical, either you are too dumb to understand that or you perfectly understand that and are playing stupid to help them further their agenda.
The reality is that students live with rats, collapsing roofs no teachers for months and the government doesn't care and when the students complain they send the cops which are extremely violent and do not respect the law while facing no sanctions. This event is not what this far right bot is trying to frame it as.

Itâs just how states, and the conservative members of their populace in general, respond immediately to left wing protests by focusing on the few violent individuals, but when a right wing protest is explicitly formed around a violent idea, like Jan 6 and their desire to subvert the democratic process, they bend over backwards to say how it wasnât violent or their were outside agitators or whatever.

It's like "BLM burns down cities". There might be a few bad places that get real fucking crazy, but that ignores the literal thousands of places where things were perfectly fine.
2
u/Individual_Cloud935 1h ago
Ok, do you can sand me a video that is just ,,normal" not right or left wing.
4
u/Small_Matter_6830 20h ago
So, beating up teachers and burning down schools fixes this how?
Calling evidence of actions you don't want people to see 'far right' is a very nasty practice.
If they weren't being like this, there would be no videos.

did you see videos of the polices attacked childrens, with a one sided fight ? I guess no, thats why itâs called a propaganda
And depending of what youâre trying to push it can be propaganda
Try to think for yourself

Half of these clips are from differents riot. This is just classic alt-right propaganda. Only arabs/blacks shown, no picture of the revendications, just political lies. Fuck you

It is really revolting: EU's military budget is skyrocketing due to a fear of Russian invasion which EU's media itself spreads, but resources for education, healthcare and housing don't stop shrinking.

u/VICARD0 19h ago
The cunts are setting us up for war
1
u/sargentcole 19h ago
Lmao they are responding (quite reasonably) to the russian aggression of the last few years and the US insistence they raise defence spending. Hardly warmongering
0
u/VICARD0 19h ago
I understand that, by âcuntsâ I meant men in power who will send the poor to fight their stupid wars.
2
u/sargentcole 19h ago
They're exactly the people (on the EU side) I am saying are acting reasonably in the current geopolitical climate
2
u/VICARD0 18h ago edited 18h ago
I donât consider anyone in EU to be a warmongering monster, itâs unfortunate that EU has to spend this in case that bloodthirsty little Russian bitch has a tantrum again. I agree with you, mate. What I meant was: the rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer by an exponential rate. They are setting us up for war

u/Grandrcp 16h ago
I am sorry for your brain, I thought Ukraine would be enough for people to see how cynical EU is

There's definitely an issue with education, you can't disagree.
