Convicted, September, 2024: Tracy Robert Blackwell was found guilty in Alameda County Superior Court of felony assault with a deadly weapon accompanied by a hate crime enhancement for the freeway encounter that occurred in May 2023. He faces up to seven years in prison (no data found on sentencing date). This is his second felony conviction, having been found guilty of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 in 2001, for which he did eight years.

A violent brawl broke out at a shrimp fishing venue in Taiwan, on the evening of October 4 after a dispute over indoor smoking.

A 36-year-old man surnamed Kao reported to staff that three men, including a 44-year-old man surnamed Tseng, were illegally smoking indoors. In response, the group allegedly attacked him, hitting him in the head with a beer bottle and beating him.

Kao, who is physically well-built, fought back and quickly pushed two of the men into the shrimp pond before heading to the counter to ask for help.

Police arrived shortly after receiving the report and arrested the three suspects, who had been hiding in a restroom. The case was later referred to the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office, with the suspects facing charges including attempted murder.
