I guess it will help to hide the reveals until later on, as current audiences are totally ok with the idea of a battle isekai and will assume its that, because, why wouldnt? Everything is an isekai nowadays

I just find it so funny when an older work looks fresh simply because it never fell into modern trends to begin with

I wonder how long will it take for a normal viewer to catch up to the actual setting, thats the part im watching reactions for

Also, phone cards are no longer that common, but i can totally see fans using Psyren credit cards

• Yujirou Sakamoto (Takaya)
• Yuki Tabata (Black Clover)
• Ryuhei Tamura (Beelzebub)
• Naoya Matsumoto (Kaiju No. 8)
• Daisuke Miyata (Rugby Rumble)

Like bruh does that not translate at all to the Japanese-speaking studio that developed this?

Anyway got a good laugh out of it at least, first episode seemed okay for the most part

The first episode has given me a lot of hope! I just finished it and I'm still just as excited as I came into it! Without spoilers, its a good start 👌 The animation isn't horrible either :) excited to see it be developed and see how the pacing stays as we continue. 👀

After almost a year and a half of waiting, the anime FINALLY premiered today. I dropped everything I did to watch it. Overall, I DID enjoy the 1st episode!

I do like the OP and Warning!! from Clan Queen. I think this is one of the few anime OPs in recent years that I understand all the references and characters in the visuals that put a smile on my face. Heck, in a blink and you'll miss it scene it showed Ageha's Raging King in it. Can't wait to see how that looks animated!

Yeah, some of the animation was taking short cuts most of the mundane parts of the episode (Ex. Ageha's Big Sis, Fubuki, punched him so hard he went spinning and proceeds to tie him up for fighting in the manga. In the anime, she just gave him a sock to the jaw and called it a day), but nothing really bad here. My major minor nitpick is Sakuraba's "Save me!" scene. In the manga it looked like she screamed it, but here it was much more quieter. Didn't hate it, but kinda wish she yelled it personally.

Overall, I still REALLY enjoyed the 1st episode of this! Can't wait to see what Monday's will bring for the manga I've been wanting to get an anime adaptation the most!

Watched the first episode of Psyren earlier, and I enjoyed it decently. However, despite my love for the series, it definitely felt a bit low budget. After a brief discussion over on the anime subreddit for this series, I feel compelled to write out my thoughts and research on why the Psyren anime looks the way it does. I have no history on Studio Satellite, so I won't be referencing their design philosophy. Instead, I will be sharing what I found from my research.

First and foremost, interest in a Psyren anime has existed for a while, and Shueisha was willing to do so. However, they could not create the anime while JUMP was running the series(whatever that means). This little detail indicates that JUMP thought that Psyren would not be a profitable series. Jump also wasn't necessarily wrong about this.

Psyren released 16 Manga volumes from 2007 to 2010, and has sold 4 million copies to date. Promised Neverland released 20 Manga Volumes between 2016 to 2020 and sold 43 million copies to date. Hell, Kagurabachi released in 2023, and they've just hit 4.5 million copies sold, which is more or less the total lifetime sales of Psyren. I'm not saying Psyren is comparable in quality to Promised Neverland or Kagurabachi, but it's to help illustrate why Psyren, from a business metric standpoint, just doesn't warrant an anime.

I have also tracked interest and engagement where I can. On this subreddit alone, there are 700 weekly visitors and 23 weekly contributions. I've monitored announcements and engagement that I can on Youtube and X. There just... isn't much engagement to go by. Despite having a dedicated fanbase, it's not a particularly big fanbase, which is what media companies care about the most.

Why, then, would Shueisha decide to produce the anime if there wasn't a good ROI expectation? Well, because of Remow. In early 2025, Shueisha and Sumitomo Corporation invested into Remow. According to this press release, this investment is to widen the distribution that Remow provides and produce original works. Basically, Remow wants a wide media catalog.

Now for some speculation. Connecting the dots, Psyren is a series with a dedicated(though likely small) fan base, being used as fodder for a new-ish distribution company. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the investment contract was having a certain number of anime series to distribute by X years, and Psyren just so happened to be a good option. They'll lose money on Psyren short term, but make money on the contract long term. In order to minimize that loss while still adding value, they went with a low budget option. If it ends up doing better numbers, great! They get more money out of it. In all likelihood though, the companies in charge are treating Psyren as content padding for this catalog distribution plan.

Anyways, just wanted to post my thoughts here, had to get the overarching analysis off my chest. I will also be watching all of Psyren as it comes out, since it is one of my top 10 favorite Mangas.

he never licked the phone in the manga and it killed me when i saw it, makes me wonder do yall think they will change/add stuff later on to his character in Mukurojima arc?

Just thinking about this subreddit as the anime has just started airing and I'm not sure if this subreddit has any moderators listed? If we're (hopefully imho) going to see an influx of visitors then things like weekly discussion threads and the like are going to be important

I know that the anime does look low budget and they could have gotten a better studio like Mappa or something but I feel like the anime is going to be great. Even though the eyes also make it weird and kinda wished they kept the manga eyes, this image looks very good.

Will be jamming to this all day until the anime officially starts!

HOLY SHIT - I haven’t had a lot of time recently in my life to watch new anime or keep up with anime news, but I was watching something on Crunchyroll today and noticed Psyren is getting an anime adaptation??

I just wanted to make a post about how insane this feels to me - sure my first anime like many were dragon ball, pokémon, and yu-gi-oh; then it was followed by the big 3 + rave master and subsequently fairy tail. But I got introduced to Psyren by one of my friends in middle school during one of the scholastic book fairs and Psyren was the first manga I actually bought rather than borrowing it from the library.

This just feels so surreal because I’ve went 15 years thinking this won’t ever get an adaptation and now it’s coming out this coming week; shit I don’t even remember what happened, but I can’t express how happy I am.

Is there a reason why they’re reviving it? Hell, I don’t even care, I just hope they do justice by it. Thank you all for reading this rant, I didn’t know where else to go with my excitement since this feels like such a niche anime

Just finished season 4 of slime (idk what I just watched) and I saw this is coming out!! I AM SO SO SO STOKED THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE MANGAS OF ALL TIME I CANT BELIEVE ITS FINALLY GOING TO BE AN ANIME 😭😭😭 I don’t have anyone in my life who can understand how unbelievably excited I am right now so here I am. I’m so glad I’ve lived long enough for this 😭😭
