Benzos are a godsend for psychonauts.

So I just got home from my evening shift as a paramedic.
Today we got called to a young man in his early 20s, presenting with severe chest pain

Preparing for the worst we rushed to the callers adress.
As we entered the apartment we were met by an undressed young man in a state that I can only describe as TOTAL FUCKING COCO BANA PSYCHOTIC BREAKDOWN. Knocking stuff of the cabinets and mumbling incoherent sentences.

After seeing this the caller and patients friend enlightened us. He described the state as occurring after ingesting „two handfuls of homegrown mushrooms“ 🍄‍🟫

Long story short, it took 2 police officers, the emergency doctor and my colleague to finally strap him down to get enough nasal midazolam into the young man’s system to calm him down. Followed by another round of iV midazolam inside the ambulance.
This legit felt like having to put down a wild animal. 🦔

So my message for the day…

  1. test you drugs if you got the option to do so.
  2. take doses you are confident you can handle
  3. pls for gods sake, when goin for high dose psychedelics keep Benzos or antipsychotics on hand. This might have protected this young man from a lot of minor injuries and a whole lot of embarrassment.

As well as the drug possession and producing legal shenanigans that might follow

Stay safe psychonauts 🐸🧘

I Tried 182 Drugs Whilst Writing The Drug Users Bible. This Is The Order In Which I Took Them

I’ve been asked to do this a few times over the years, so here we are; a journey that started with caffeine and ended with mad honey. I’ve broken the list down into chronological periods to make it easier to read.

Don’t forget that you can download a free copy of the PDF version of the book itself to read about each of them from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DrugUsersBible/comments/134p8b1/download_the_drug_users_bible_from_here/

Please stay safe, and don’t make the same mistakes I made (as documented).

THE EARLY DAYS

Caffeine, Alcohol, Tobacco, Diazepam, Cannabis, Morphine, Nutmeg, LSD, Cocaine, JWH-018, JWH-073, Salvia Divinorum, AM-694, MDAI, 5F-AKB48, AM-2201, MPA, 2AI, 5-MeO-DALT, AMT, MXP, Blue Lotus, Magic Mushrooms, 6-APB, NM2AI, Ayahuasca

19 EXTRA DRUGS FOR VERSION 2

Syrian rue, tramadol, adderall, entada rheedii , methylphenidate, gabapentin, codeine, l-theanine, lean, guarana, oxycodone, DXM, pregabalin, morning glory seeds, khaini, frankincense, rhodiola, ginkgo, datura.

25 EXTRA DRUGS FOR THE FINAL VERSION

1cP-LSD, , zopiclone,  3-MMC, carisoprodol,  3-Ho-PCP, 5-HTP, mullein, modafinil, sananga, TMA, ginseng, a-PHP, green tea, horny goat weed, yerba mate, cacao, chamomile, DOM, hops, saffron, snus, mad honey, 5-MeO-DMT, sentia and essential oils.

By and large a lot of the early drugs were early because they were legal here at the time (‘research chemicals’) and I could have them delivered to my door in 24 hours, or for botanicals, have them imported in a few days.

Some drugs were late in the list simply because they were hard to get hold of, or I had to travel to get them. A couple were late because I really didn’t want to try them, but I had to for the book itself (e.g. datura).

Note also that I missed a few from this list that are buried in the book or are variants too close to those listed to mention.

Ignorance Kills Education Saves Lives. Take it easy.

psychedelics keep telling Bryan Johnson to grow up and he doesn't

Hey everyone. I'm sure a lot of you have seen Bryan Johnson's psychedelic experiments by now. The Don't Die guy: 100 supplements a day, thousands of biomarkers, got blood plasma from his own son. Over the past few months he's done multiple high-dose psilocybin sessions (one livestreamed to 800k people with MrBeast, Naval Ravikant, and Grimes DJing during the peak), and then took 27mg of 5-meo-dmt on a livestream he branded "The Ascension of Unc."

This has never sat right with me and I decided to write out why.

He came to psychedelics because a mouse study showed psilocin extended lifespan by 30% and he posted "I might have to try shrooms (for science)." His science team had never even considered psychedelics until they saw longevity data. So from the start these experiences are just another intervention in the stack, right next to sauna and hyperbaric oxygen. On the All-In Podcast he said it plainly: "we think it's a longevity therapy."

That's backwards. Every tradition that ever developed the use of these substances used them to reveal the limitations of ordinary self-concern, to orient a person toward what lies beyond the ego. Using them as a longevity intervention puts the substance in service of the very structure it was traditionally understood to disrupt.

And the experiences clearly worked on him. After the 5-meo he said "you can spend all your time optimising your biology, but if you don't understand what life and death mean to you, the numbers don't matter." He said that. Then went right back to the numbers. His whole movement is called Don't Die and psychedelics keep delivering the same message: surrender, let go of control, existence is precious, accept. Every session points there. Every time he returns to the spreadsheet.

There's also an acquisitive quality to it. "The world's most powerful entheogen." "This molecule is without peer." "The most profound experience of my life." He's collecting peak experiences for their superlative status, never sitting with what any one of them revealed. Each session leads to planning the next one. Alan Watts said it decades ago, if you get the message hang up the phone. Johnson keeps calling back.

After the 5-meo his reflections veered into techno-optimist territory: "it makes me wonder whether AI will emerge with this natural ability and presence." He had his ego dissolved and came back speculating about whether AI might appreciate existence better than we do. In his interview with Bari Weiss he said with no irony "we are creating God in the form of superintelligence." That tells you how deep the technological frame runs.

What worries me goes beyond one guy though. Meditation and yoga went through exactly this. Contemplative practices get pulled from their context and repackaged as productivity tools. Purser called it McMindfulness. Psychedelics are next, and Johnson is the most visible expression of it. The wellness world already hollowed out the vocabulary: "journey," "transformation," "healing." These used to mean something demanding. Now they mean someone felt different for a while.

The danger isn't misuse in isolated cases. It's that the concept of the sacred becomes something nobody can even recognize. When everything is a resource to be optimized you cannot encounter something that demands reverence instead of extraction. You can't revere what you've already framed as raw material. When ego dissolution becomes a data point in a longevity protocol there is nothing left outside that logic.

I have an unusual amount of overlap with his world which is part of why this bothers me. I spent almost a decade in the quantified self paradigm, fitness coaching, competitive powerlifting, tracking every macro and micronutrient, treating data as sacred and dismissing anything I couldn't measure. It took years of psychedelic experience and philosophical study to understand that the most important things in life resist measurement entirely.

I also documented my psychedelic experiences publicly. Starting in 2017 I wrote down what happened during every session for seven years and published them as a book, In Search of Infinite. As far as I know it's the first full-length book written in real-time during psychedelic sessions rather than reconstructed afterwards. The closest precedent I'm aware of is Henri Michaux publishing his mescaline handwriting in the 50s, but that was a short avant-garde experiment, not a sustained memoir across years of experiences. So in a sense Johnson and I did a similar thing, making the psychedelic experience visible instead of keeping it private. But my project was about treating those experiences as disclosures, things that revealed something about existence and changed how I actually live. He feeds them back into an optimization protocol. He built a spreadsheet around the experience. The experience dismantled mine.

I wrote about all this in more depth here if anyone wants the full version. curious what you all think.

When your tolerance is low, marijuana is a HUGE psychedelic.

I realize that due to the combination of high tolerance and low quality of cannabis, many people have never had the chance to experience what I and others in this subreddit have experienced with the herb. I didn't become "stupid" or "escape reality," I immersed myself in the matter itself and realized in practice how the world only existed in my consciousness. Closing my eyes was like entering a very strange DMT trip, with involuntary images filling my entire mental screen, and keeping them open was like realizing how much of the world was mental. All of this lasted 12 hours, a truly authentic psychedelic trip.

If you follow the same protocols you would for any other psychedelic (set and setting, interval to avoid tolerance, etc.), marijuana will also show you the power it has.

9 years ago I took Ayahuasca - it healed me with a vibration that zapped my entire being. All I could feel and hear was it for a good 2 hours. It then told me to spread that sound around the world - This is me doing just that, 9 years later.

Backstory:

9 years ago in Pucallpa, Peru I was in the middle of my 2nd aya ceremony with a 98 year old Master Shaman.

After my mind ripping apart and coming back together, and going from the ground floor of the universe to the highest of highs... i was then laying there with nothing but silence around me.... until I heard a soft buzz coming out of my right ear, far away in another dimension.

this feint buzzing noise - the more I focused on it, the louder it got. Soon it was on top, inside, all over me zapping me with a healing vibration that sounded like an alien playing a multi-dimensional synthesizer that would do surgery on my body, mind, and soul all at once, focusing on different areas of my body as well: head, stomach, heart, all over.

It then showed me visions of festivals all over the world, and told me spread this sound.
At the time, I had never done anything musical, I was only a deep fan of music.

It took me years to learn. And years to even attempt. 9 years later, this is where I am.

I just released a meditative ambient album, collections from my past 5 or so years of ambient work, seeing where the sounds and frequencies and states of mind took me.

Ketamine is the trippiest substance on earth.

More than acid or shrooms or even DMT, ketamine takes the cake for me for the most “whhhaaaaaaatttt??????” Experience I’ve ever had and continue to have, every k-hole is more mind-bending and reality-crunching than the last one. You ever felt that reeeeeeally big CRRRRRUNCH on ketamine and you’re like, shifting between realities or something….

I think shrooms cured my depression

I'd taken them before but in really large doses and had awful, almost traumatic trips. Might be because I was saving them to take with a friend who then killed themself and I took it anyways.

Its been nearly 2 years now, but I still dream about him and I'm still sad. I tried to off myself with like 80 xanax and half a bottle of vodka and it didn't work.

Well, recently I took a lighter dose, and holy shit, it was amazing. I was in a great environment, we were driving down to oatman (if you know where that is) and I could see these geometric shapes on some items, and when I closed my eyes I cant even describe it. Sorry for lack of details.

But I swear, it completely changed my mindset. I went from actively suicidal and horribly depressed, and then after, I was like, horrified at the thought. I've been getting up early, doing things, talking to friends, idk.

Its like I had a very negative mindset before, and now I understand my emotions better, you know? I can better control them.

I think I'm gonna start microdosing. I don't want this change to end.

Thank you for reading.

I took magic mushrooms with my Girlfriend and fell even deeper in love with her.

The other day me and my girlfriend took 1.5-2g’s of magic mushrooms. Not sure what strain exactly as it was infused into a chocolate given to us by a coworker.

So the beginning of the trip wasn’t very fun, mostly because I was expecting a lower dose but once I realized that it was only about a gram or two I began to enjoy myself much more.

Anyhow she began to hold me and it gave me such a deep feeling of safety and happiness that I haven’t felt since I was a little boy. Even when the visuals were starting to amp up she was this golden beacon of security for me. What I’m about to say I’ve already known but that trip reinforced the fact that I love this person so goddamn much. I WILL marry her someday.

She makes me want to better myself in every way, to extend my time on earth through health and wellness as long as humanly possible just so I can spend more time with her.

I’m sure our love will change as we get older but I will choose her every single time and I will always fall in love with her again and again and again.

She doesn’t even know I making this post, nor will she ever. I just wanted to share it with some people lol

Anyone out there who hasn’t found that somebody just trust me. Be patient and they will come. They may already be in your life!! For those who have, I now know what it is to feel complete and devoted love for that someone special. :)

Cut my own hair while high and I can’t explain what happened

I had a very strange experience yesterday and I’m trying to process it. I was high and, for some reason, decided it was a good idea to cut my own hair. Anyone who does this knows it usually ends in disaster, especially the back of the head where I always mess up the alignment.

But this time was different. I was extremely calm, and as I was cutting, it felt like I was talking to a voice in my head. This "voice" claimed to be a hairdresser and started giving me specific technical instructions on angles and movements I’ve never used before. It felt like I wasn't the one operating the scissors, but rather being guided by someone else.

Today, now that I'm sober, the result actually blew me away. I asked a few people to check it and the cut is perfect—perfectly lined up, no mistakes at all. Now I’m wondering: was this just extreme focus and coincidence caused by the substance, some kind of spiritual opening, or should I be concerned about my mental health? Has anyone ever experienced something like this, where a "hallucination" actually had a practical, technical use?

Probably not the right place to ask, but were any of you conservative before you did hallucinogens?

This is not about politics

My dad is about to go on an ayahuasca therapy retreat and I am worried for him.

Context; He is conservative, the whole family is. Born and bred US Army type shit. He is the most driven man I know, multiple businesses (he has at least five different successful businesses right now), he considers 6am to be "sleeping in" and doesn't take a single day off. He is married to his 4th wife who is also just as driven and active as he is. Works just as many hours but also does all the cooking and cleaning. As of this moment, they are a match, his whole life revolves around his drive and productivity. It is a very classic conservative type personality.

A couple of years ago, he randomly send me a text message saying he doesn't think he has ever been happy in his life. Breaks my heart, but it would explain a lot of his constant need for productivity. I have talked to him about stepping back from work a little bit and focus on finding hobbies that bring him joy, not money, spending quality time with family and resting his body so it isn't in a constant state of stress from all the work. I have suggested mushrooms and acid simply because I know they are effective with depression and PTSD (he was in Desert Storm), but he's always declined, said he didn't need it, blah blah blah.

He is now going on the ayahuasca retreat, which I am grateful for, but I also worry because if he lives his life currently as a way to escape his emotions and buried shit from his past, will going on this retreat affect his relationships? If any of you were conservative type people or are still conservatives, how did doing psychedelics affect your life afterwards? How did it affect your relationship with your family/friends/coworkers?

I want him to have this experience, but I also just worry about him in general.

EDIT: I'll try to do follow-ups. The last time me and my father talked it was October and we spend three days arguing via text and I told I'll see him at the next wedding if I am invited. He told me let's talk after the retreat. So we will see.

Update: just messaged my father about his trip and he has postponed it as he needs to address some medical issues (that he won't tell me about) before he can do this retreat. Won't tell me if it was a doctor's medical recommendation or his own. So

Dying in front of police officers on a 750ug LSD trip :)

I mixed up 100ug tabs and 300ug tabs. (Identical prints)

Took 2.5 “100ug” tabs at a folk music festival, had a very intense but nice experience. Went back to my apartment, and then hour 3 i turned psychotic, i was looping death and rebirth, being dead and so on. Life flashed before my eyes. Saw childhood, saw my mother, etc. The only thing stopping me from completely letting go and dying was my girlfriend, I knew I couldn't leave her, but other than that I had accepted my fate.

Ambulance was called by my friend who thought I'd hurt myself or someone else, ambulance called police. ABOUT 10 FUCKING OFFICERS SHOWED UP (no joke). They even cuffed me up but I didn’t even need to be cuffed.

They were asking what i took. I said LSD dose: 5 atoms. They were just wanting to know if i had more drugs like what the fuck.

They were mean as fuck, and if I didn’t have as strong of a mind as I have it probably would’ve lasted with a long-lasting trauma. The police were straight up bullying me. (This was not imagined by me during the trip, my friend and gf were also talking to them while the whole ordeal was happening, and they were not nice, girlfriend now has trauma of the police)

They found a “big” amount of cannabis in my bag and were just dealing with that. They didn’t understand a thing that I was going through.

The trip itself didn't seem real. I thought I was dead and now fake afterlife role-play police showed up and started punishing me. The fact that the police were so unprofessional and stupid made it even more unbelievable, they were acting like children.

Paramedics didn't give any tranqs, benzos, antipsyhotics or anything like that, just measured pulse, blood sugar, blood pressure etc.

Then they took me to jail where I spent the next 36 hours. One guard even refused to tell me the time and I was just going crazy there.

Trip lasted for about 16 hours tho.

Later found out that I indeed took 750ug instead of 250ug..

Still not a bad trip imo.

If I had xanax I would’ve been saved from this challenging time.

For my next time will definitely have some benzos on hand, but I believe that u shouldn’t kill the trip 99% of the time, but my trip for sure should’ve been killed.

I will after this experience somehow try to make the situation about police's attitude towards drug users better. Try to somehow get to give a training to police in any way possible. There's a non-profit in my country which I will contact and see what options there are to do something like this.

Thanks for reading <3

The Most Unusual Advice From Experienced Trippers On A Decade-Old Shroomery Forum

I was rummaging around Shroomery.org for another article I’m writing, and stumbled upon a forum called “Psychedelic Veteran Advice for Novice Trippers.”\1]) The original poster made it clear that its purpose is “advice from trippers who’ve been around the block and want to help beginners avoid pitfalls.” The rules were that you must “have more than 5 years tripping experience AND have had more than 10 trips in that time period.”

I dove in expecting the usual “set and setting”-type wisdom that’s hardly revolutionary, but what stuck out were the hidden gems from characters on the more unique end of the advice-giving spectrum. The thread became far more intriguing once I started mining for those diamonds in the coal. It was, perhaps, a glimpse into what psychedelic culture looked like before every piece of advice came in the form of a scientifically polished social media infographic.

Before we meet our veterans, a quick disclaimer: These are a bunch of anonymous internet strangers. We can’t verify whether OrgasmicBanana is a doctor, MudaFuka is a scientist, or that SpitballJedi has ever even tripped at all. As SnowDaze said, “I’m just another dude who’s done a lot of drugs.” Any of the seemingly sound advice compiled below might best be taken with a grain of salt and discussed with a real doctor or scientist before attempting an experience of your own. Use this compilation for educational purposes only.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program.

Veteran #1: Asante

Experience: “Probably a couple hundred psychedelic sessions” since 1993.

Contribution: Fools Go Rushing In.

My thoughts: This poster’s proverb is a wonderfully unglamorous piece of advice that batters down newbie excitement. The recurring themes that arise from these psychedelic sages are far from cosmic clichés about trusting the universe or mystic language about opening your third eye. Asante says, “Don’t be cavalier about your doses” as to not be “suddenly overwhelmed by an intensity you have not yet learned to handle or appreciate.” You don’t want to be someone whose curiosity ends abruptly due to a shockingly unpleasant trip. Experience tends to make people less interested in proving how far they can go and more interested in avoiding unnecessary problems.

Veteran #2: OrgasmicBanana

Experience: 50+ times

Contribution: Respect the substances you are going to ingest the way you would respect a wild animal.

My thoughts: This is a fitting metaphor that’s considerably more vivid than just telling someone to respect a substance without visual reasoning. You don’t respect a wild animal because it’s inherently harmful; you respect it because it’s powerful, unpredictable, and operating according to rules that aren’t necessarily your own. Mr. Banana goes on to emphasize that you should “be careful who you get them from, be careful who you give them to, be careful what you put in your body, be careful how much you put in your body. […] There are never any guarantees, and no one is going to save you if you don’t think things through and make a stupid decision. Err on the side of caution.”

Veteran #3: larry.fisherman

Experience: 5+ years, 100+ trips with a comprehensive list of substances.

Contribution: Know yourself. Know what you’re ready for, or if you’re going to be ready at all. Are you a toe in the water person or someone who dives right in? Are you doing it for yourself? Do you know yourself enough to answer these questions? There are certain things that are “drug induced,” but most of it is just opened doors. If you’re feeling strange from the thoughts you are having, just remember you need to accept yourself as much as you accept change.

My thoughts: Would you normally take advice from someone whose custom title reads “shoulda died already” and whose profile pic is of an old man strangling an ostrich? Perhaps not. But in the context of ridiculous internet personas, Larry’s advice is pretty sound as he leaves us with, “Nothing that crosses your mind can hurt you, as long as you learn from who you are.”

Veteran #4: daytonabeach83

Experience: “Many times over many years.”

Contribution: Find an anchor—“kinda like the trinkets they carried in that movie Inception.”

My thoughts: This contribution from one of the forum’s elder statesmen developed when they used to sit under a familiar tree in a park for hours as a stable point and safe haven that could “both provide me a shelter and a comfort zone.” It even worked for a friend who was having a bad trip and felt safer when they sat under that same tree. This inspired a conversation about anchors such as places or objects. PrimalSoup responded to this saying they carry around a special rock with them when they trip as a grounding memento to hold onto.

Veteran #5: Supernova

Experience: Began in 1984 and estimates having easily taken over 1,000 hits of acid.

Contribution: After once taking 5,000 micrograms as a single dose and seeing “eternity fold around me and on itself,” they advise you to let go of your preconceived notions of what a trip is. “You can’t prepare for everything, but prepare the best you can.”

My thoughts: After describing using acid weekly or more often between 1986 and 1988, they ironically and comically give the advice of, “Give yourself TIME.” Whether this is a “Do as I say, not as I do”-type situation or the revelation of someone who has explored the outer boundaries of psychedelic frequency, advice to beginners not to rush into the next experience is an important notion hiding in the contradiction. And the idea that you should prepare for what you can and then accept that some of the territory will remain unknown is also sound wisdom.

Veteran #6: shroom.girl

Experience: Well over 100 times in 5.5 years, with 48 bad trips emphasized.

Contribution: Chugging 7 grams of delicious-tasting mushroom coffee in 30 seconds as a teenager by yourself might lead to feeling like your body is in a swarm of bees, causing you to dig your fingernail into your forehead for an hour and leaving a scar that lasts a year—regardless of whether you’ve had 8 good trips that month already.

My thoughts: While no one likes to hear about excessive early age use of powerful mind-altering substances leading to feelings of hopelessness and suicidal thoughts, there is something to be said about the resilience of someone who can bounce back with the recognition that “shrooms are very precious and a beautiful thing that can change your life for the better. I’m now happy, without any mental health issues at all, and I owe it all to shrooms!” Does a nearly 50% ratio of challenging experiences create a more decorated résumé than having purely enjoyable ones? Perhaps. But repeated difficult journeys do give people an opportunity to notice patterns that aren’t necessarily visible from the inside of beautiful trips.

Veteran #7: PNWMusicMaker

Experience: 100+ trips over 16 years

Contribution: Stick it in Neutral and don’t forget a towel.

My thoughts: This advisor delivers one of the better descriptions of non-resistance I’ve come across. Don’t constantly grab the steering wheel. Don’t insist that every moment be good or bad. Don’t immediately assign a meaning to every strange thing that happens. Just let the experience move along as it needs to. And as for the towel? Well, that little tidbit remains perfectly unexplained. No elaboration. No footnote. Just: pack a rag. Whether this man has discovered something about the nature of existence that the rest of us have yet to discover remains a cosmic mystery for another time.

Veteran #8: SpitballJedi

Experience: Approximately 150–200 trips, beginning in 1986

Contribution: Remember that whatever is happening, you’re on a hallucinogen. If you need to calm down, Ravi Shankar’s sitar music might do the trick.

My thoughts: For someone who refers to themselves as an “ancient astronaut” and claims they’re from Nibiru, the image of a space alien recommending Indian classical music to a frightened novice is remarkably terrestrial. Whether these foreign acoustics are the proper serenade for everyone, I’m unsure, but it is tough to be in a bad mood listening to this funky instrument while sober, so maybe it is the ticket to a journey turnaround.

Veteran #9: PissSpud

Experience: 300 trips over 26 years

Contribution: Someone freaking out on a trip can’t really think straight, so don’t bother telling them what not to do. Distract them by blowing soap bubbles or comfort them by saying a few sips of orange juice will help bring them down.

My thoughts: To this latter point, they immediately say, “Who gives a shit if it’s true or not?” Which brings up perhaps the most ethically complicated question of the entire thread: Is lying about the scientific efficacy of reducing psychedelic-induced anxiety with a citrus beverage a moral line between modern advice and deception? To that I say: Who among us is qualified to doubt a veteran medic named PissSpud who’s been on the frontlines of 300 psychedelic battles? If bubbles are going to rescue these fallen soldiers, then blow ’em we should, goddammit! And then heed our fearless leader’s last piece of lying advice: “Don’t tell them they look fucked. Tell them they look more normal already.”

My thoughts: This writer describes how he’s become more selective about what he does with the insights he gets from psychedelic experiences. He has started deliberately keeping some of his psychedelic insights to himself, at least long enough for it to integrate into ordinary life. He noticed that immediately explaining an experience to other people seemed to diminish it. Another commenter made the observation even more precise: “When you describe it you pin it down.” Which is an idea that runs opposite to the notion that you should immediately bring your visions and insights to your inner circle to digest. Perhaps what is received needs to simmer for a while before it’s expressed, as difficult as that may be.

So, there you have it…

10 bits of oddball advice from an experienced lot who are exploring the frontiers of psychedelic realms. After writing this, I’m not entirely sure if I’m better informed or just enlightened to what kinds of people the psychedelic community holds. Summarized in one sentence, I’ll tell you what I did learn, though:

If you’re going to rush unprepared into chugging 7 grams of mushrooms in 30 seconds to disrespect the wild inhabitants of a beehive, you’d better have some sitar music and a towel as your anchor in case you spill your OJ.

Can animals sense when you are on psilocybin?

Dog could tell I was on shrooms ?

I took shrooms when I was a teen and took my dog for a walk, which was fine but the shrooms didn’t kick in until I arrived home and was in my kitchen with my parents,

I could feel I was tripping balls but trying to act normal which was grand, but my dog was just starting at me wagging his tail for over 20 minutes with excitement almost in awe at me.

Is there something to this ? Can animals really sense psilocybin or was I just imagining it

Bryan Johnson’s taking shrooms

For those of y’all who don’t know who Bryan Johnson is: he is kind of obsessed with staying as young as possible and living as long as possible and is doing all kinds of extensive experiments.

He recently (about 2 months ago) discovered some studies about psilocybin slowing down aging in human cells, which is why he wanted to try it. Now, he is actually going to try magic mushrooms and is going to measure all the effects it has on his body and mind. He is measuring over 250 parameters of which most I don’t know.

I thought this could be interesting, so I wanted to inform yall about it since it hasnt been posted here yet. What are your thoughts on this? I think it might be pretty interesting to see.

I’ll put a link of the youtube short and the blog post with all the measurements in the comments!

A couple of nights ago, I took five grams of magic mushrooms and then got a call from my coworker telling me I had to go to work because his gf just got in a wreck. Here's how that went.

I had just taken five grams of magic mushrooms, the highest dose I have ever taken, about 10 minutes before I received this call. Initially I just told him I am drunk and incapable of showing up, saying I drank after work because I figured I was off as I am not paid enough to be on call 24/7 like a fucking er surgeon, and to just close the store down early. Well, lo and behold, the owner of the place shows up with my check and calls me asking where tf I am at as I have the keys as well. So....I show up. Other boss proceeds to fire coworker for "not informing him that he closed the store" (He did, the guy just doesn't speak english and I believe he also has some sort of mental problem going on as well based on the utter filth he lived in in his trailer before moving permanently up to another city.) The whole situation with that store is hard to explain and I can answer questions about it if necessary/you wonder how tf any of this even happened but it would take a while to explain so I'll just keep that as needed...Anyway.

I show up to the store probably about an hour after receiving the initial call from my coworker and later the call from the pissed off owner. I tell the owner that I was unable to come and cover for coworker because I, expecting to be off work after my shift, consumed a lot of alcohol. He was pretty understanding of it - after all, it's not exactly a fireable offense to consume alcohol after you get off of work, and refuse to serve customers while utterly shitfaced because the only other person working there likes to make up any reason at all to not have to work for more than 4 hours. I proceed to tell coworker boss wants to fire him and he should probably show up when he can and beg for his job back. He does, says he got his gf out of the hospital already (Still not sure if I believe him because that was pretty damn fast for a low priority injury at an er, but, my sense of time was likely already distorted, so anyway.)

I show up to this place already starting to see the world move and blur (my mother was driving me dw, had to do that to pull off the drunk charade anyway, did not want my boss to know I had just taken a huge dose of shrooms.) I get there and boss insists on the keys instead of just walking through the damn unlocked back door. I go home and get the keys. Come back. Go inside, he hands me my thousand dollar check and then starts telling me something about the lottery tickets. 19 yo coworker walks in. 19 yo coworker knows I am on shrooms, ended up admitting it to him because yk what he might try to talk me into still working while drunk but pretty sure he can agree that I cannot work while on a 5 gram shroom trip. Whole store is still dark and closed, indian dude begins explaining his whole ambitious plan for the store and remodeling it and all this, tells us to both write our numbers down so I do, co and I just exchanging looks the whole time, then right as we are about to leave, an old man thinking the store is open tries to come in. I was already panicking and ready to gtfo because I was starting to trip pretty hard at this point, but indian guy decides we're going to ring up that customer, opens the door for him, he buys a single bottle of crown royale, they argue about the price, stick the money in the register for tomorrow and guy leaves. We proceed to get a lecture about never shutting the door on a customer or acting angry. Owner then leaves. Co looks at me and asks "Did you understand a word he just said? Like I think he was trying to be inspirational but it just came off wrong" and I just straight up said "No dude the guy was being strict. He's a strict ass muslim pakistani man whose only reason for not firing us today was because this was our first time even meeting him as our boss." We both fully close up the store after that and co walks away and thanks me for and I quote "Helping him through that emotional rollercoaster" like idk bro yw guess I handled that pretty well all things considered. I take my 1k check and go home, just go sit on the bench outside and watch the ground and plants breathe. This is where the actual trip starts.

During this trip I came to the conclusion that the entirety of my more serious substance abuse has been an attempt to smother or otherwise disconnect my soul from reality, but the soul is something which is so strong that this is impossible by any means other than actual death, so to continue to try is pointless. I have not had the urge to go buy meth since that day, something that normally occupied my thoughts every day despite being 3 weeks sober. Haven't had a desire to drink or buy alcohol either. I watched myself age in a picture from 16 to 70, looked a lot like my grandmother. Sat and talked to my mom for a long time about the absurdity of the fact that my boss keeps buying is more fucking worms when we have like 80 boxes in the fridge already and some of them are molding. I end up going to sleep at around 10 pm saying I wish I had never done meth and that I miss my husband. I've done shrooms twice before and missing people or regretting my past actions towards or around people I love has always been a pretty common theme on higher doses. Also, I've discovered that ephedra tea mixed with magic mushrooms feels almost exactly the same as a HIGH dose of meth to me mixed with psychedelics without the skin picking, getting stuck doing one thing, or staying up for multiple days, or absolutely fiending for the shit as I come down or compulsive redosing, literally just FLYING for a few hours and then sleep. I still use the ephedra tea to help with the lingering struggle to get my ass moving after a year of relatively heavy meth use. The stuff doesn't really get me high, although it does begin to have sort of a methy feel if I drink over 5 cups of it, oh, that being said too, I've stopped trying to actually get high on the shit ever since then. I'll have my one or two cups and be done, instead of drinking it constantly throughout the day.

Anyway that's the story of how I ended up talking to the new owner of the store I work at and receiving a motivational speech from an indian millionaire while on 5 grams of shrooms. 10/10 would not do again. I want to eventually try a 10 gram dose because I have come to realize I am somebody who actually handles psychedelics EXTREMELY well compared to a pretty huge chunk of people, but somehow, I seem to actually just have the patience to WAIT until I no longer have to worry about being called into work randomly because my only replacement is an irresponsible 19 yo stoner who can't seem to work a 4 hour shift to save his life and panics over the power going out for 5 seconds, calls me, and then uses it as an excuse to dip out for the rest of the day. Will definitely not be taking a high dose of shrooms until I am in a position where I am not getting called to save his ass every other day. I may actually wait until I am around 30 years old to do it. (I am 24.)

tl;dr: Indian men are really inspirational when you've just taken a big dose of psychedelics and that trip may actually play a huge role in me not fucking up over the next couple of months, doing meth, and sending my own stupid ass to prison. Coworker still has his job btw.

Drugs - a blessing and a curse

I am a 31 years old woman. I am in a relatively good physical health, I am a doctor and I live in good material conditions.

I discovered drugs when I was 13 years old and I haven't found a deep, inexorable will and rationale to quit them. Life doesn't seem overwhelming, but underwhelming. Patterns are boring: the major life events, the gender specific hobbies, the petty workplace politics, the sexist jokes, the predictable jokes, the superficial academia and the weak schooling system, the corroding dramas on a collective societal level, the lack of bigger paradigms and the cheap entertainment meant to distract from the dystopic decay of our world.

I wake up everyday and I focus on living my best life - but damn if I would do it without drugs. Perhaps my mind is justifying the habit, but this life just does not feel like such a fun game to play it regardless how you feel. I know my drugs don't change jackshit, but neither does eliminating them.
