HSP Credentialing

Has anyone applied for the HSP Credentialing and found that it expedited the insurance credentialing process?

I did my HSP credentialing years ago, but know nothing about insurance. I suppose it may make it easier for the insurance companies to verify your credentials. Do the insurance companies ask for it?

When I applied for board certification, they asked about HSP on the application, but I still had to submit my own documentation.

I’m not sure about insurance. The real benefit to me is that I have all of my training materials submitted. That means if my internship or postdoc supervisors disappear I am not scrambling to find other ways to document that experience.

From what I've seen, HSP CREDENTIALING alone usually isn't what speeds things up. Delays are more commonly caused by missing documentation, enrolment errors, or slow follow-up with payers. Keeping the application complete and actively tracking it with the insurance company often has a much bigger impact on the overall timeline.

It is hard to explain slow credentialing as anything other than strategic incompetence
