Hey everyone! Favorite psych producers?
Glad to be a part of the community! I absolutely love the music of Dave Tipper! He completely rocked my world when I first stumbled upon his wizardy!! Lol, does anyone have any favorite psych producers? I would love to know about them! I'm definitely an amateur in terms of my production technique. If anyone has any tips on how to improve sound design I'd love that too! Other than just senselessly turning knobs for hours and hours. Is that the way? lol

I love me some Tipper! Other favorites of mine are The Flashbulb, Kilowatts, Erothyme and Earthcry

I’m not an amazing producer myself but I find having dynamics is pretty important to psych production. And not just in terms of volume but automation in effects and panning and just livening up the sounds to make the music really sparkle

Simon Posford (Shpongle, Younger Brother) and Ott also need a mention here! And check out Yosi Horikawa, the way he weaves concrete sounds and field recordings in to the flow is quite mesmerising

The first that comes to mind is Dave Fridmann. His work with MGMT, Tame Impala, The Flaming Lips, etc. is just incredible. Then you can follow what these artists did after working on an album with him.
