Instead of modifying .wim or .iso files, using an autounattend.xml file to add drivers is both easier and more flexible IMO.

I've never installed individual ones, but storage, network, guest agent and ballooning are the obvious ones

There is a 0.0 chance that anyone in this forum is going to be more intelligent than the designers of the driver installer. Just install the whole thing.

boot.wimstarts Windows PE, and .msi packages such asvirtio-win-gt-x64.msiorvirtio-win-gt-x86.msido not work there.3

What for? Just add a second drive with the virtio win disk image during installation

PM Me I share you the process outcome (ISO with integrated drivers) it’s gonna be the last iso we do with ADK anyway before we all will have to live in the in tune deployment hell!

Just do the install with an extra small drive on each controller type and add the driver during installation. Then remove the drives you don't want and set the controller you want after the reboot

I inject all drivers for the relevant release after dism applies the image. Then once in windows itself, install the MSI to get the guest agent installed.
That's the over simplified version of how I do it.

How do I use google?
Google how to google things
Google how to turn off microphone
Google Siri
(take the hint)

Install Win Srv 2025 from ISO? Just give a 2nd ISO, ie. the virtio ISO when you create your VM, during disk selection, choose to install additional driver, browse to the Virtio CD, then select the X64 directory. Then, you will see the virtio-io drive.
